Frequently Asked Questions
About Your Trip
Sterling cash is best, and just change it locally when you arrive. You can arrange some local currency in advance but there is really no need and no advantage in doing so. ATMs are widely available as well, in case you need to top up towards the end of the trip!

Can I get a Lebanese visa on arrival?
Most nationals require a visa for Lebanon and this can be obtained on arrival at a cost of US$17.00
Please note, you will not be able to enter Lebanon if you have an Israeli stamp in your passport. If you are unsure, please contact the nearest embassy for further information.

How should I take my money to Lebanon?
The national currency of Lebanon is the Lebanese lira (LL) - known locally as the 'Lebanese pound'; with an exchange rate of approximately 1500 to the US$ and 2500 to the UK£. You can take UK sterling cash, which will probably be the easiest to change locally.
ATMs are found all over the country but not all take UK cards, so it's best not to rely on them for all your money. The leader will be able to advise further when you arrive.

Lebanon Specific Questions
Please note that the holy month of Ramadan will take place from the 20th of July to the 18th of August 2012 (dates can shift slightly). This is a time when followers of Islam do not eat or drink between sunrise and sunset. This can sometimes affect the opening hours of certain tourist sites. However we will ensure that that the itinerary is affected as little as possible if you travel during this period. Food and drink is available to tourists during the day.

Is the Lebanese visa easy to get?
Visas for Lebanon are currently issued free of charge on arrival into the country before clearing customs. However please be aware that this policy could change and you should be prepared in case you are
asked to pay for a visa on arrival. If this ruling changes you should expect to pay 25,000 LL or $17US per person. You will not be able to enter Lebanon if you have an Israeli stamp in your passport.
