Absolutely fantastic holiday! The time spent in Petra and Wadi Rum was out of this world!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

    There were 2 outstanding highlights:

    1.  The second day at Petra. Nothing can quite prepare you for the magnitude of Petra - the landscape and the tombs are stunning. The first day at Petra was great and we had plenty of time to see the main sights. The second day was really special - we walked round some less touristy routes and gained a totally different perspective on Petra. We felt really priviledged to have such a special experience.

     2. The night in Wadi Rum. The desert was stunning, and the hospitality of the Bedouins was great. Very memorable.

What did you think of your group leader?
Brilliant - very knowledgeable and pleasant to spend time with.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Make sure you take good walking boots / shoes - it helps enormously on the walks / scrambles round Petra and Wadi Rum.

Buy some alcohol in Duty Free! I wasn't sure how "dry" Jordan was so didn't. It turns out that whilst a lot of restaurants you'll go to don't sell alcohol - it is quite usual to take your own alcohol to them. Plus you'll need some booze to keep you warm round the camp fire in Wadi Rum!

Take a scarf / pashmina to wrap round your head to block out the wind and sand in the desert.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

The hotel on the first night was a bit ropey - v v v cold - I had to sleep in my fleece and socks!

The last day in Amman didn't feel very special.

Fantastic trip, really good itinerary.  Jordan is a great place to visit.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Petra totally lived up to my high expectations.  On the second day at Petra we hiked to the high places for a different view of The Treasury, felt really lucky that we got to do a route that wasn't on the typical tourist trail.  Wadi Rum was also a major highlight, really amazing landscape.
What did you think of your group leader?
Khaled was really good, very knowledgeable and ready to answer all our queries.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Hiking boots or similar footwear with good grip recommended for day 2 at Petra, also for scrambling up & down the rocks in Wadi Rum.  I travelled in February and it was even colder than I had expected it to be, take lots of layers and a wind-proof jacket.
Is there anything else you would like to add?

Fab trip, so much packed into 1 week.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The highlight had to be Petra but the Dead Sea, Red Sea and Wadi Rum were all great experiences.
What did you think of your group leader?
    Excellent! Knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Carting the sleeping bag around for the week just to use it once was a bit of a pain.

Great itinerary - trip made amazing by fantastic tour guide - Dougan al Omer - he was an absolute star.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

First site of Treasury Building at Petra.  The amazing Dougan made sure we arrived just as the sun reached the building and the effect was magical - reduced some of our party to tears.

Singing round the camp fire out in the desert at Wadi Rum and seeing the myriad stars that light contamination in the UK make invisible.

Floating in the Dead Sea at dusk with no one, other than our small group, around

What did you think of your group leader?
The best we have ever had by a considerable margin and we have had some very good ones in the past.  We made what would have been a good experience anyway into something we will never forget.  Only wish we could get in touch with him as we have a present we would like to give him.  If you could provide us with an address in Jordan to send the gift to we would be very grateful - doesn't have to be his address just one that will ensure that the gift will reach him.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Be prepared to muck in and you will have a great time
Is there anything else you would like to add?
    Don't think so

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

The whole trip was fantastic - I have wanted to visit Jordan and Petra for the past 10 year and finally I made it and it was worth the wait. The place, the people and the trip was everything I wanted it to be. Petra was inspiring.

What did you think of your group leader?

Our leader, Khaled, was great too. Extremely knowledgable about Jordan and very proud of his country. Can't fault him.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Remember to take strong comforatable shoes. I managed to break my toe whilst wearing sandals in the desert!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Food was excellent especially if you like meze and pitta bread. Hotels were a good standard.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Petra was amazing and we had a real chance to explore it properly. It would not have done it justice to just go for the day. But so was Wadi Rum...

What did you think of your group leader?
Absolutely made the trip. Gave us opportunities to really stretch ourselves like the off the track hikes through Petra and climbing over arches in Wadi Rum yet he always looked after the weaker members of the group. Would choose another trip around Khaled he really was so good
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Bring a varity of clothes - it could go from hot to cold. Bring good footwear for Petra but you could possibly get away with trainers

  • Stunning architecture, culture and above all people.

What did you think of your group leader?

Our group leader, Khaled, was simply amazing. He had the right balance of leading and knowing when to allow us to explore on our own. He had an extensive knowledge of the history, politics and of course culture of everywhere we went. You couldn't have asked for a more perfect guide.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Female travellers should really dress sensibly - ie cover those shoulders and legs up!! Just as a matter of courtesy to the country being visited. Avoids a lot of unwanted attention, especially the way that western women are preceived generally in the Middle East.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
    Go for it!!!
