A fascinating trip, hard work but worth it. Guide was excellent and Jordan itself is an exceptional country.

A superbly balanced trip with a fantastic guide. Wonderful people and far exceeded expectations. I had images of Petra being overwhelmed with people but it was surprisingly quiet (sadly due to the drop in tourism) I'd go back in a heartbeat.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Even with a crowd of gabbling Italian teenagers the moment when you exit the Siq and come face to face with the Treasury at Petra really is quite something. That said it was surpassed on the second day when Khalid took us on a long walk over the top, away from everybody, before suddenly finding yourself looking down a rocky abyss into the Treasury.
What did you think of your group leader?
Possibly the best tour leader I've had, Khalid was faultless.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
I've travelled a lot and love the Middle East but had put Jordan down the list as I thought it would be something of a tourist trap. In part the Syrian situation has led to a decrease in tourism which is sad for the local economy. The benefit is that the sites are a lot more free of bus parties than normal. Highly recommended from me! Jerash and Petra are stunning. Wadi Rum is big enough to hide the legions of tourists and make you feel like you have the desert to yourself. The Dead Sea is an experience not to be missed if not the most delightful place. Always plenty to do and to see, wonderful people, great food and runs like clockwork.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Can I just add that it is always mentioned to me that not editing reviews is something that puts Exodus above it's rivals.

A brief yet unforgettable journey into another land, a different way of life, and almost another time. Meeting the Bedouin people who remain untouched by greed for wealth despite daily contact with masses of humanity, and manage to remain happy and hospitable despite living such hard lives in inhospitable terrain, was quite a moving experience.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Climbing 800 - odd steps up a steep cliff face in Petra, feeling exhausted and out of breath upon reaching the top, turning around fully and then discovering the massive stunning facade of El-Deir! A prize worth the hard climb uphill.
What did you think of your group leader?
Knowledgeable, capable, kind, socially very responsible.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Take plenty of spares for photographic equipment or electronic equipment in general. It is hard to come by and ridiculously expensive in Jordan.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Go prepared to have a great time. I haven't done the cycling or trekking trips, but I don't know if I would want to, seeing that there is so much to discover, especially in Petra. I would much rather spend all my time seeing other places, like Jerash, Madaba and Kerak. I would definitely recommend walking on one of the trails off the beaten path in Petra on the second day - ask your guide to take you to a viewpoint that allows you to look down on the treasury! Oh, and don't miss Petra by candlelight.

What a whirlwind, fabulous, amazing trip, made all the more special by a truly fab bunch of people and an enthusiastic group leader that was Danny, not to forget Sadam who was also great.    Brilliant trip - you will not regret it

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
I thinking Petra has to be the icing on the cake for me.  The normal walk down through the siq is lovely and when you turn the last corner and treasury is in front of you, you will be amazed. Make sure you do the not so well advertised route to see the Treasury from above.  You have to walk past the kings tombs then start the climb straight up but you will be rewarded for your efforts with a fabulous view of the Treasury from above. The monastery and the high place of sacrifice are a must.  Rather than walk up the steps to the high place of sacrifice Danny & Sadam took us on a walk through the hills, it was a great climb and only  taxing in places.   We arrived at the same place but it was much more interesting.  We also got another fabulous look at the Treasury from above, looking down from yet another vantage point – which is a little hairy but good once you have done it. Everything was much easier when mountain goat Sadam was acting as a fall breaker.  If you can do it get someone to take out via the canyon and not the siq.  This was an amazing afternoon and yet another adventure, which has spurred me on to do more climbing.  There are a few places where we definitely needed the help of the local guy,  but definitely worth it for me.
What did you think of your group leader?

Danny was excellent and made the trip – his knowledge was exceptional and he genuinely wanted us to have a great time.  Sadam the tourist policeman got involved and walked with us everywhere lending a much need handed when trying to get up steps etc. in Petra.

They joined us in the evening and recommended places to eat and drink and Danny is most excellent at tying the jordanian scarfs.  5 stars ***** :-)

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
The Jordanian people are very welcoming and I never once felt uneasy.   Snacks and drinks are expensive in my opinion in  the tourist areas - but exceptionally cheap when you hit places like Madaba and other non-tourist villages/towns.  If I had to be critical I'd say the hotels were just  Okay.   Breakfast was not great (no fruit at all) - but it wasn't enough of an issue to even contemplate moaning. The hotels we were in, tended to have British plugs. Some of our group had issues with air con - it was about 36 degrees so we were hot at night.  Only one bite received, that was in the Bedouin camp.  Strange how there are no bugs! - Take some Deet for the camp and have a quick spray up.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
The night in the camp is excellent and the food was the best of the week I my humble opinion.  We had a fabulous BBQ and salads.  The camp is a dry one, so buy a bottle of spirits (in duty free) or whatever you like for a little drink under the stars, as its very expensive to buy in Amman and you have to go and find a liquor store – there are plenty of soft drinks to use as mixers – you certainly will not go hungry or thirsty.  There are mattresses, sleeping bags and really cosy blankets available.   I would have stayed another night! In Aqaba you can go on a boat trip – which the others said was really good – but I opted for a lazy afternoon at Berenice resort just outside of Aqaba – free shuttle bus took us along.    Jumping off the jetty in to the Red sea was fab – especially when fuelled by free Redbull!  Aqaba is a duty free zone so alcohol is everywhere and cheap..

An outstanding trip with a really good mixture of sights and activities.  The trip was very well organised and gave a great snapshot of Jordan.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

It has to be one of the following:

    1. The second day in Petra (walking in via an alternative route to the Siq and getting away from crowds then the High Place of Sacrifice).  That was topped off by also doing Petra at night. Or
    2. The 4x4 trip round Wadi Rum combined with sleeping under the stars and a camel ride the next day.
What did you think of your group leader?
Our tour leader, Khaled, was very good.  There were clearly some bits of the trip he is more enthusiastic about then others (he isn't a fan of Petra by night, for example) but he was always amusing, always helpful and had a good feel for (1) how much time to spend telling us about where we were and (2) the right amount of time to leave us alone to explore for ourselves.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Go on this trip is the best answer I can give to the advice question.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
The only thing I would add is that Aqaba really isn't for everyone and, personally, I wouldn't include it in the itinery - more time in Wadi Rum would be much more enjoyable.  Aqaba is a real resort and unless you are into sunbathing or snorkelling there really is nothing there for you during the day (particularly given the exteme heat).  On the other hand it did work well on our trip as it is the one place in Jordan that actually has bars and coincided with an England match we all wanted to watch...

I can't fault this trip!  Beautiful sights, amazing history and a wonderful group made this holiday one of the most memorable I've been on.  Also a huge thanks to both Danny and Sadam who took care of us during this tour - both informative and friendly!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

There were several moments during this trip which I will remember forever.  Floating in the dead sea and snorkelling of the boat in Aqaba were great fun.

However the best bits for me were sitting around the camp fire listening to stories from Danny whilst looking at the gorgeous night sky in Wadi Rum and also getting to the viewpoint in Petra and looking out at everything.  Truly astonishing holiday.

What did you think of your group leader?
Danny Haddad was a fantastic tour leader.  He was informative, friendly and passionate about the subject which made it all the more excellent.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

I'd thoroughly recommend doing the snorkelling boat tour in Aqaba.  The lunch on the boat was wonderful - grilled fresh fish, fresh salad, potatoes...and then snorkelling off the boat was excellent.  Well worth the price!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I'd like to thank Exodus for this fantastic tour.  The amount of time in each place was perfect.  This was my first group tour and I will definitely be looking at booking another.  I was worried about how the group would work, but even though we were all so different, I'd happily go on holiday with them all again and hope to see them soon!

Both Danny and Sadam were excellent, very informative and friendly.  I will always remember this holiday.  Truly spectacular!
