    An awe inspiring trip.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

My long awaited trip to Petra was all, and more than I had wished for.  This was followed very closely by

the trip to Wadi Rum.  Racing through the desert in jeeps, sitting on the rocks and watching the sun go down

was amazing but best of all was sleeping under the stars.  I have never seen skies like it, truly jaw dropping.

What did you think of your group leader?

There are not enough words to describe Khaled - he was absolutely incredible. Extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his Country.  He was always ready to answer whatever questions were asked and nothing was too much trouble. He had a terrific sense of humour and looked after us all so well. When I suffered from heatstroke on the first day and was rather unwell he was sympathetic, understanding and went out of his way to make sure I was looked after - even carrying me back to the bus when I was extremely unsteady on my feet!!!  I don't think we could have had a better guide.  I would not hesitate to take another trip if he was the guide.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Read the trip notes, go with an open mind and have fun!!
Is there anything else you would like to add?

This was my first holiday travelling on my own and I was very anxious but I need not have worried - the

trip was fantastic and the group got on incredibly well on the whole.  Everyone was supportive of each other

especially when a couple of us older members of the group lagged behind at bit.

It was a brilliant experience and I am now looking to see where I can go next!!!!

Jordan is a crucible of ancient civilisation history and the sights of Petra and Jerash do outstand. How we also managed to fit in; getting mudified in the dead sea, seeing the sunrise (alright well not quite) on camel back and dolphin spotting in the red sea into our jammed packed week still baffles me. The only conclusion can be that time stands still in Jordan.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The first glimpse of the Treasury from the Siq - but of course everyone says that. So it would have to be bobbing away in the dead sea for pure comedy value.
What did you think of your group leader?
Our guide, Alaa, studied archaelogy and was the perfect person to tell us all about the history of Jordan. But at the same time was keen that we should understand Jordan as a modern Isalmic country including its culture, international relations and economy. It was my first trip to the middle east and I certainly learnt a lot!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Stock up on your favourite tipple at duty free as its quite hard to find anything once you've landed (and not that cheap either).

Jordan is magical.  From ancient sites to beaches to deserts to the wonder of Petra there is something for everyone.  The people are charming and the food is delicious.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Definitely Petra.  As you approach the Treasury building after a 1.2 km walk through the Siq it takes your breath away.  The whole of the Petra site has so much to offer with an amphi theatre, tombs, monasteries and the High Place with just a minimum number of market stalls and places you can eat without being swamped.
What did you think of your group leader?
Our Group Leader, Ala,  was excellent.  A degree in archaeology certainly helped.  He was very knowledgeable without being overbearing.  He also knew the best restaurants to eat of an evening and also introduced us to bakeries for snacks and lunch.  The driver and him were at our disposal even when it was not part of the official tour e.g. the last night in Amman when the tour had finished, they still came to pick us up in the coach to drive us to the restaurant we asked to go back to from our first night in Amman.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Although it sounds like you need a level of fitness there are always options available if you're not up to it e.g. at Petra you could hire a donkey to take you up to the high places.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Jordan is a wonderful country.  It has marvellous scenery, ancient sites, art, sculpture, deserts, beaches and you do not get hassled.  Prices are fair and the country appears to have a good standard of living.  I went on this holiday with my daughter and I have been describing my holiday experience with my husband since I've got back so much so that he now wants to go there.  I will be quite happy to do the trip again with him which is testimony itself as to the good time I had as I very rarely go back to the same place again.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Petra is definitely the highlight of this trip, and with two full days there, there is plenty of time to explore its vastness and pure beauty! I can tell you how amazing it is, how mind-blowingly fantastic it is, how you will be seduced by its beauty and wonder...but nothing will prepare you for quite how perfect it actually is. There is so much to see, so much to learn and such an adventure to have there!

What did you think of your group leader?
Our group leader Sami had a fantastic wealth of knowledge about the entirety of Jordan. It was amazing at quite how much information he knows without any prompts or notes! He also kept us entertained with his 'jokes' and funny tales!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

For all those on their first adventure like I was, remember to take a zip-up fleece and some light long trousers. I took one pair of 3/4 length trousers, and a long cardigan, which were fine, but always a good idea to have a backup pair, and the fleece for walking up at the High Place in Petra, if a little windy!

You do not need to take too much with you in your case! I took about 5 capped sleeve tops and just washed them in the sink of the hotels as I went along...they dry by the morning if you hang them up!

Take a waterproof camera for the boat trip in Aqaba too! I was so glad I did!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I had the most fantastic time on this trip! I was so happy and excited each day, because the trip gives so much to you! I have to say that I was really looking forward to going, and it actually exceeded my expectations by miles!

It is a brilliant way of seeing a spectacular amount of thing, and learning so very much, on a personal and also informative level! There is so much to see, so much to do, so much to learn and lots of fun to be had along the way! If you are looking for an adventure without the hiking, then this is the trip for you! You will not be disappointed!

I went as a single female in her late 20s. I felt safe at all times. I made some fantastic friends and had one of, if not THE best time of my life.

     Do it!

Very enjoyable week with the many highlights of this interesting country.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
I think seeing the Treasury at Petra for the first time and just taking it all in!  Petra by night is also very beautiful and gives you a different insight.  The climb to the monastery was tough but worth it!
What did you think of your group leader?
Sami was very helpful and he knew a lot about his country especially with the perspective that he had lived outside of it also.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Be prepared for hot days but cold nights and also rain in Amman!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
    Enjoy!

Dont worry about the camping night, mattresses are very comfortable. Blankets looked clean and warm, but I did use my own sleepng bag.

Snorkelling from the Royal Diving club in Aqaba is excellent, in case you dont fancy the optional boat trip.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
    go!
