The trip completely exceeded my expectations.  For me it was a once in a lifetime experience and as my friends have said, something to tick off the bucket list!! I'd highly recommend.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Too many to mention I think.  Seeing the animals in their natural environment was just amazing and something I will never forget.
What did you think of your group leader?

Both Davis and Ben were great.  On arrival Davis said the only requirement is that we smile and that was very easy.

I also liked that at our first group meeting (shortly after arriving) he said this is our new Kenyan family for the week.  As this was my first experience of travelling alone that statement really made me feel a little more comfortable with the whole idea.

Throughout the entire trip Davis and Ben were always friendly, happy and did a great job of finding the animals for us.  It was sad to say goodbye once back in Nairobi.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Davis suggested we change up $100 (or GBP equivalent) but I think in the end I changed up £130.

I'd highly recommend the balloon ride.  Before I travelled the cost did seem expensive but some friends had recommended I do it and thank goodness I did.  It is one of the best experiences of my life.

I feel the cold so I did find it chilly in the mornings and evenings, suggest packing more than one jumper/fleece.  Also, something for the ladies, the drive down to the Masai Mara is very long and bumpy (but surprisingly enjoyable!) so I'd recommend wearing a sports bra for comfort!!!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

This was my first trip alone and I was nervous before I went but there was no need.  It was a very well organised trip and I was lucky enough to have been with an amazing group of people who in addition to the animals made this a trip I will never forget.

I cannot recommend this trip highly enough. BOOK NOW ;)

Met fully or exceeded expectations and an experience that will stay with me for a lifetime. Throughout the trip the level of anticipation continually increased as we went from one unexpected sighting to the next. I cannot see how it could have been improved at the price we paid. Thank you Exodus!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
A cheetah with two cubs from close quarters.
What did you think of your group leader?
Quickly assessed the specific interests and attitudes of each member of the group on day 1, then at all times very keen to establish if they were satisfied with the trip and were seeing the animals that they had hoped to see. Very good with regard to identification of the animals we encountered - I am a professional biologist and was impressed with the way in which he clearly took the trouble to ensure he got the detail right e.g. using field glasses where necessary (and very occasionally checking a field guide) to distinguish between closely related species rather than guessing. Also good when answering questions on the biology of the animals seen, adjusting his answers to give the level of detail appropriate to different members of the group. Well organised, listened to all opinions and requests and was responsive at all times. Health and safety aspects of the trip were addressed well (but, refreshingly, not overdone!).  Clearly thinking ahead and anticipating/solving any minor problems that might or did arise in a seemless fashion, and with minimal or no fuss. In summary attentive to the needs of the group at all times, very keen to ensure that each client left Kenya with a good opinion of both the country and the tour company.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
It is well worth considering arranging visas in advance of travelling. I did not, and buying visas on arrival resulted in an hours delay for the whole group.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I have already strongly recommended your company and this trip to others. The attention given by the local guides/leaders to ensuring a good experience for the whole group was very impressive and, in my view, was a major factor in making the visit the success that it was. They are to be congratulated for their untiring efforts.

This was my first trip with Exodus and I was not disappointed.  Excellent accomodation, food, guides and company the holiday concentrated on the basic criteria wildlife in it's native environment.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
There were many highlights with wonderul sunrises, sunsets, stunning wildlife with excellent commentary by the guides and of course the excellent company of the others in the group.
What did you think of your group leader?
Both guides were extremly imformative and kept us on schedule but allowing the group to set the pace when possible.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
The visa cost is now $50 and it can be a lenghty process getting it at the airport.  The balloon trip is well worth doing as it incorporated a personal game drive back to camp as well as the champagne breakfast so you don't feel that you are missing out on any game drives.

THis trip to Kenya was great from beginning to end. Kenya is a very beautiful country, amazing wildlife and very welcoming people. I went to see animals and thats what I got, the game drives on the Masai Mara were wonderful. But a group trip like this can be made or runied by your fellow travellers, what can I say.......I travelled with the most friendly, easy going bunch of folk....thanks guys, you made a great holiday even better.

A wonderful trip with many exciting moments.  I didn't believe beforehand that I could be so interested in the bird life of the country

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
We were fortunate enough to witness several families of hippopotami in the river loudly enjoying the water.   We also came across a young family of lions in the bushes eating what was obviously a very recent kill.
What did you think of your group leader?
Our group leader spoke excellent English and had a very wide knowledge of the country, wildlife and culture.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Exodus provides sufficient information beforehand - just go with an open mind.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
The accommodation was excellent giving opportunities to enjoy the countryside and wildlife.

Fanatastic wildlife wonderland in luxury lodge and campsite.  I feel a bit of a fraud saying I went camping - Base Camp Masai Mara was amazingly comfortable and luxurious.  I felt really close to nature and enjoyed the animals, with all home comforts thrown in!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
    • Seeing 'honeymoon' lion and lioness displaying such tenderness towards each other
    • Never knowing what was just around the corner: a leopard kill in a tree, lioness and her 3 cubs, warthog family, African fish eagle, zebras surrounding our truck to feed at waterhole, white rhino strolling across the road, ostrich and her eight chicks
    • Watcing a family of baboons, feeding and playing, from my hammock outside my 'tent' at Basecamp
    • Meeting friendly, laidback people of Kenya and being waved to by school children on roadtrip to Masai Mara
What did you think of your group leader?

Ben and Davis complemented each other perfectly.

Davis took the trouble to meet the group every night to tell us about the itinerary for the next day, answer our questions and reassure us.  He also told us about life in Kenya and had many interesting anecdotes.  He also saved me from walking too close to a buffalo!

Ben was entertaining and fun loving.  He also had a fantastic knowledge of the wildlife and had superb eyesight - spotting animals from a seemingly impossible distance,  whilst driving the safari truck.  Ben got on so well with everyone in the group and was able to adapt to our different personalities.  We all had a great time on the road!

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Consider buying your visa before you leave.  I had to wait for an hour at Nariobi airport before I could obtain mine.  I was the last one into the arrivals lounge and by then my luggage was nowhere to be seen.  I eventually found it on someone else's trolley about to be whisked away!

If, like me, you hate camping this is the trip for you!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

This a trip you can't fail to enjoy if you like wildlife - go for it.

Basecamp Masai Mara is the best place I've ever stayed!

This holiday was excellent both in the accommodation choices, food provided, the safari itself and the particular mix of people we had within our group.  One thing could I think be easily overcome - we were all advised to get the visa on arrival and on the plane that it would be £20 I think it was but when we arrived, it was not only more expensive but it took a long time to get, thus making people in our group wait a long time for some of us.  The currency being ok to get on arrival although cheaper, incurred delays also making of us feel rather bad right at the start of the trip!More positives outweigh the negatives though!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Wanting to see a leopard and our guide trying hard to make sure we did.  So not only did we find one camouflaged within the bushes - hard to see but having just made a 'kill' spreadeagled it across leaf-free branches of a tree as if if she had pinned it up there to skin it.  Does not sound much but it was one of my highlights.

Seeing my first close up of  - giraffe, a lioness and her cubs, two cheetahs; baby elephants, hippos doing synchronised swimming; a stubborn buffalo occupying our picnic spot; a wildebeast silhouetted against the sunset  sky;....two big Rhinos walking in front of the van and then their back view going off across the land - 'priceless' ; the scurrying of the funny warthogs

What did you think of your group leader?

He was very good on the whole and very friendly - we think he had a couple of 'down' days but we managed to lift his spirits!!

Sometimes I felt though that he did not know how Exodus inform us in advance about the trip - we asked about the migration and he did not seem to understand that it could happen in October whereas it was in the trip notes (?). I I was pretty sure of when we asked him.?

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

If not very clued up - try to get an idea from someone (previous traveller to that area) who is a good barterer to advise you what is reasonable and what is too much!?   I felt a bit inadequate and nearly got very stung!  I did not know what I needed to specifically  ask or check about this essential learning curve when I had my Exodus contact to ask prior to the trip.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I wish I had lots of money and could go on lots more of your trips.  I would say to everyone that if they do no other 'challenge or experience' in their life, they should experience this.  Wonderful - a week which will stay with me forever and the photos I have are there to constantly remind me of the beauty not only of the animals in the Mara but everywhere we went. However, photos don't quite beat the real animal there in front of you!!.

I wish - knowing the amount of money received from tourism  they could use it to make the road to Mara smoother, suffering from a trapped nerve in your back then travelling hours across rubble filled roads - not ideal!  Perhaps they could improve the sanitation (toilet stops) from that money too - but I am asking for the 'completely unlikely in my lifetime' no doubt.  Wonderful trip....Thank you!
