Frequently Asked Questions
About Your Trip
Can I charge equipment along the way?
Most of the campsites provide a power point where you can charge your camera batteries. The power point is normally in a communal area like the kitchen or bar. Most of the vehicles are fitted with an inverter to allow you to charge your batteries while on the move also, but obviously space is limited so you should not rely on this being available.

How big are the tents and do we need mozzie nets?
They are large dome 2 man tents. You should be able to stand up in them and the dimensions are approximately 2.4 x 2.4 x 1.8 meter. All the tents have mesh windows and doors so mosquito nets are not needed. Obviously you should keep your tent closed when not in it, to prevent bugs flying in!

Is a sleeping mat necessary for this trip?
Yes, but one is provided for you as part of the trip. It will be a 1 inch styro-foam sleeping mat.

Is it easy to get a visa on arrival?
British passport holders and most European and Commonwealth Passport holders can obtain visas on arrival in South Africa for no charge. Any tips for local food or restuarants in South Africa?
You should definitely try ostrich Sausages with traditional 'Pap' (Maize & water), as well as snoek fish cakes and the 'sexy' bread in Napier!
Some nice places to try this might be the Brass Bell in Kalk Bay or the Sea Forth Fish Restaurant, Boulders Beach.
