What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
I personally enjoyed the time in Lesotho most: for me it was completely different in comparison to South Africa, and I liked our activities like horse riding or visiting the village. I appreciated a lot that local people with so many talents have been successfully encouraged (e.g. the choir giving fantastic concerts)!
What did you think of your group leader?
Justin did a great job, was perfectly organised, and tried to make our lifes as comfortable as possible. I felt safe and could enjoy my holidays every single minute! I was suffering from African tick bite fever and extremly grateful for his support and advice!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
When visiting Lesotho, you could leave things over there that you might not need any longer after your journey (like shoes, T-Shirts, jeans, etc.): maybe you can keep this already in mind when you are preparing yourself for the trip.
I definitely had a great time and enjoyed to see so many different places in the South of Africa. The tour covers a lot of impressive landscapes and wildlife.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
To me, the "pony ride" in Lesotho was most impressive - even though the ponies seemed pretty big to me... (-: It was a very different kind of experiencing the scenery - away from the bus and regular roads - and in the middle of a very unique community.
But also - getting so close to rhinos, giraffes, lions when driving or walking (!) through Hlane National Park in Swaziland was definitely worth getting up at an unspeakable hour of the day.
What did you think of your group leader?
They were extremely well organized and did not seem to have any trouble connecting to group members of all ages (which was up to 83 years in our group)! Trip-wise I felt very well taken care off, and entertainment-wise we had some very funny moments.
Easy as that...

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Start with arranging the visa for Mozambique a few months ahead; we waited too long and it was quite a pain to have it ready in time.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
If you happen to bring more than 5 bags for 2 people to this trip, you will be breaking our "luggage record" - but you won´t score bonus points with the group leaders...

Busy but well-organized and run trip providing an excellent introduction to South Africa and its neighbouring countries. A wide variety of experiences across the 3 weeks with a good intro to the culture of Lesotho in particular, with the added contrasts of Mozambique and Swaziland. Made all the more enjoyable by Justin & Anneka's enthusiasm for the trip
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Chilling and soaking in the culture of the laid-back atmosphere in Lesotho; safari on foot in Swaziland which took us unbelievably close to several families of majestic White Rhino.
What did you think of your group leader?
An excellent leader and organizer for whom nothing was ever too much trouble. Justin's enthusiasm, even after several long driving days, added to the enjoyment of the trip.
The only slightly negative comment I would make would be that he did not always willingly accept criticism or his views being questioned.
This trip is very much a team effort and Justin and Anneke work exceptionally well together. each apparently knowing at every stage precisely what their respective roles require and carrying this out quietly and efficiently
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
A good pair of binocular is very handy on many occasions
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Anneka's 'home-cooking' throughout the trip. and especially on the evenings we camped, was second to none! Meal after meal was excellent so do not plan to lose weight on this trip!
7. Mozambique - that storm(!) - the force of nature!
What did you think of your group leader?
Anneke and Justin were excellent. Their enthusiasm, commitment, hard working, fun loving attitude was special. Anneke - how does she cook such an amazing food in the middle of nowhere? Gourmet food - and never repeated a meal - even though I would loved to have eaten any of them again! Plenty of food - had to be disciplined not to have seconds!!! Justin - great driver - loves his Truck - great leader - knows his stuff - and nothing appears to phase him. He knows the locals and therefore we felt welcome wherever we went - even in Maputo - where he was greeted like a God! Very hard working leaders! Hey - 'Xmas Trees' on Christmas Eve - very nice!!!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Expect a few long drives - but the scenery is worth trying to stay awake for. Do the township tour in Cape Town - a real insight into township life. Ponytrekking in Lesotho a must - plus ask a local to take you round their village. Take some pens or crayons (or baseball caps) for the kids - especially in Lesotho - but also in the Township in Cape Town. Have your camera for the surprise - and enjoy! Special! Take some deet - but mozzies not too bad! Oh - take malarone!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
An excellent trip - excellent group - Cath - hows the head after the Xmas trees? Camping in Africa is a must - but the hotels were much better than expected - very nice - thank you! When I went to Africa a few years ago I lost weight - I didn't on this trip! Food was just too nice! A great trip - thank you! Big holiday blues when I got home!

This trip has got something for everyone, whether that's sunbathing on Mozambique's pristine beaches, seeing the wildlife in Kruger, the history of Rorke's Drift, chilling out round the camp fire with a few cans of Castle, wine tasting in Stellenbosch, walking in the Drakensberg, zipwiring (death slide) in Tsitsikamma, or shopping in Cape Town.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Rorke's Drift was a major factor in me choosing to go on this particular trip. While I knew some of the history of the battle, to see just how small the battleground was and to hear the details from the Zulu perspective, was a revelation!
What did you think of your group leader?
Justin and Anneke are brilliant! This was my 5th Exodus trip and, without taking anything away from other tour leaders, they are far-and-away the best! Their knowledge, dedication, good humour, positive attitude and pride in their country made the difference between this being a good holiday and this being a great holiday! Anneke's cooking, in particular, was second-to-none!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Only the usual: remember to pack a sense of humour and wear a smile.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
If you've got this far, you're obviously considering this going on this trip. Don't just sit there - Go For It (you won't be disappointed)!

Absolutely fantastic holiday - the trip is very well organised. The Itinerary was excellent where we saw the various wildlife up close, got to see how different cultures live - in particular in Mozambique, Lesotho & Cape Town. Plus did some activities such as walking in the beautiful Drakensburg Mountains, zip wiring & weight lifting (ie holding beer glasses) in Maputo.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
To see how other people live especially in Lesotho where they have so little but yet they look happy & seem content and all the little kids kept waving at us. One set of kids wanted their photo taken, when I stood in with them for the photo all they did was look at me instead of straight ahead at the camera – i now have a photo of 5 kids looking behind them at me, while i'm pointing towards the camera. They were so cute, polite, friendly.
What did you think of your group leader?
Both Justin & Anneke were fantastic leaders. Justin is very knowledgeable & has loads of patience plus wit to put up with the constant questions we threw at him. He was well able to deal with the different personalities, the different ages within the group & even though you’d think he’d get bored saying the same things over & over again he still made the trip very eventful & enjoyable.
Anneke is also a great person and I have to say “wow what a chef” – she’s an amazing cook, everything she did was to such a high standard. Her evening meals were better than in any restaurant.
Both of them are very enthusiastic & extremely hard working – anyone who ends up on a trip with them as their leaders will be very, very lucky!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
I was there in October, although the weather was fairly okay it still got cold in the evenings sitting around the camp fire so I’d advise to bring an extra long sleeve jumper & woolly socks for the feet.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
It’s a great holiday …. You should just go ahead & book it :-)

A very diverse trip visiting all the places I wanted. Some long drives but necessary to see it all. In reality needed longer in a few places e.g. Graaff Rennet, also as we did not stay in central Cape town would recommend staying on a few days
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
There were two, pony trekking in Lesotho and the walk in the Drakensburg
What did you think of your group leader?
Totally efficient and dedicated but at times needed to lighten up, a trip is more than logistics
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Extend the time in Cape Town, we joined another trip to Victoria Falls which provided a great contrast
Is there anything else you would like to add?
South Africa is great but you really need to see other adjoining states which is why Mozambique is important. Be clearer about what extra you need to pay for activities
