Reality Check
This is an ideal trip for those who would like to experience the beauty of Namibia but would prefer to stay in the comfort of a lodge, chalet or hotel. Included meals will be a combination of restaurant meals and meals prepared by the leader.
Transport is in a specially modified safari vehicle with twelve seats for clients. The roof opens for game viewing and there is plenty of legroom and packing space. All vehicles carry a reference library, fridge and/or icebox. By keeping the group size deliberately small we are able to maximise the exposure to the great African wilderness. 80% of Namibian roads are good gravel roads, but some sections after the rainy season can be bumpy. Drive times on this trip are moderate and we will normally arrive at our destination by lunch time or just after. We will rarely exceed 5 hours driving in one day.
All activities done on tour are moderate, such as; climbing Dune45, visiting the bushman drawings at Twyfelfontein and Petrified Forest walk. The walks at the Waterberg Plateau can be classified as moderate to strenuous as it is a bit steep and rocky.
The camping departures are full service camping safari in a comfortable vehicle with a fully qualified guide. As this is a fully supported camping trip, all cooking and other camp chores are done for you - allowing you to get the most out of your holiday. We will be camping everywhere except Swakopmund and Windhoek, in the very good and well-equipped campsites that are common to Namibia.
The lodge-based departures, whilst more comfortable than camping are not 5-star lodges.
Normal group size and age
Normally 6 to 12, plus leader/driver and camp assistant. Minimum age 16.
Icons explained
The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together.
All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please
see our Solo Departures page.
In order to provide a more accurate grading system, where a trip falls between two grades we use an intermediate or split grade, for example Leisurely/Moderate. Occasionally, there are optional activities available en route, in this case the optional grade is indicated in brackets, for example Grade Challenging (climb Tough+). Clearly, conditions may differ from region-to-region or month-to-month and as such the information given on these pages is designed to act as a guide only. In all cases you should refer to the respective holiday's Trip Notes for further details.
