Reality Check
This is a unique trip that gives you the opportunity to make a genuine difference for some African children. Working on the projects is far from compulsory on this trip but a willingness to muck in is appreciated by the locals who find all our efforts useful. If you are not keen on painting or manual work it is always useful to interact with the kids and to teach English, sports etc.
Thanks to the general laid back attitude in Africa, you should be prepared for a degree of flexibility and the odd last minute change of plan.
Due to the nature of the work we are likely to do, a very basic level of physical fitness would be helpful.
May: Please note there is a compulsory minimum donation of GBP50 per person to be paid online via the project page for Zambia. This will go direct to our charity partner Baraka Community Partnerships and will be used to purchase materials needed for the project work (please remember to add gift aid if a UK tax payer).
Sept: Please note there is a compulsory minimum donation of GBP60 per person to be paid online via the project page for Zambia. This will go direct to our charity partner Baraka Community Partnerships and will be used to purchase materials needed for the project work (please remember to add gift aid if a UK tax payer).
May: Accommodation on the river is in tents but most nights we will be close to an ablutions block. Wild animals are present throughout this section of the trip so you need to be comfortable with that concept!
The canoe safari is far from strenuous as we work with the flow of the river but you will need to be able to paddle gently at least. No previous experience is necessary but you should have a reasonable level of fitness on what is an active trip. An ability to swim is recommended.
Sept: The accommodation on this trip is in good comfortable lodges. Wild animals are present at our accommodation at Kariba, Livingstone and Chobe so you need to be comfortable with that concept!
Normal group size and age
Min 6, max 10, (Sept: max 14) plus leader, driver and appropriate local staff. Minimum age 18.
Icons explained
The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together.
All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please
see our Solo Departures page.
Designed for people who are in good health, enjoy the outdoors and want a relaxing trip packed with interest.
Wildlife: Trips may be wholly wildlife focused, or contain an element of wildlife viewing within a less specific itinerary.
