    PJ was THE BEST.

He was not only our guide but our driver. We felt very safe in his hands. He gave us a very informative talk about the history of S Africa including it darker sides, past and present

Budget for more than it says in The Trip notes if you want to go on all of The Trips and excursions[which most of us did]

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

There were lots of inspirational moments including an evening safari followed by a meal in a game lodge which finished with star gazing with a local expert.

    Wonderful coastal walks.

Eating oysters on a boat and the elephant sanctuary - both in Knysna.

    Wine tasting in Stellenbosch

What did you think of your group leader?
JP was a great guide who was knowgeable about the flora and fauna as well as the history of South Africa. He made sure that there was plenty of flexibility in the trip to suit different preferences as well as making sure that we moved on in time to fit everything in. JP also had the right sense of humour to keep us amused and probably keep himself sane.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Activities and eating out were quite expensive but all were of high quality so don't leave yoursels short as you might need to miss out.

There was a tremendous variety of activities - quite often two or more on each day so you certianly will not be bored on 'Discover the Cape'. I spent a couple of days in Cape Town before starting the trip and this was useful to adjust from work and the journey to 'holiday mode.'

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

    So many to mention.

Stepping out of the airport to see the amazing Table Mountain, and then taking a trip to the summit on the first afternoon was everything I anticipated and more. The views were incredible.

Feeding Ostriches at the Ostrich farm in Oudtshoorn, followed by an afternoon safari and a night time astronomy lesson all in the same day was unforgettable. The Southern Cross and Milky Way were crystal clear.

A morning of zipwiring over ravines, lakes and waterfalls in Knysna.

Walking part of the (5 day) Otter trail in the stunning Tsitsikamma National Park to stumble upon the most beautiful waterfall.

Wine tasting in Stellenbosch - for some reason South African wine tastes EVEN better in South Africa! The Dutch Cape architecture in the region of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek was stunning too.

Boat trip in Knysna with Oyster tasting was the most enjoyable way to spend a morning. The Oysters and wine were delicious and the views of the Knysna Heads were again incredible.

The walk from Cape Point lighthouse to Cape of Good Hope again provided such spectacular scenary.

Going to a cat reserve and standing next to Cheetahs in their enclosure.

What did you think of your group leader?

Jean-Paul ("JP") is an amazing guide. Not only tour leader, he also competently drove the tour vehicle and was very proficient with his commentaries. He was very approachable and had a great sense of humour. He was obviously deeply interested and passionate in South Africa - the culture, history, and future. Nothing was too much trouble. Having travelled on numerous group trips I can genuinely say JP is one of the best. I would have no reservation in recommending him as one of Exodus's highly commended leaders.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Go for it. This trip has something for everyone and rates as one of my all time favourites. About half the group either arrived early or departed late giving them some extra time in Cape Town - which in hindsight is a very good idea. Although the itinerary is relatively full I still managed to take an open top bus tour one afternoon around Cape Town and visted the Castle of Good Hope, District 6 Museum and walked through the Company Gardens. All recommended.
Is there anything else you would like to add?

Food and wine were amazing - similar prices to the UK, but countless times the quality. Also take a very large memory card for your camera as you will need it!

I have been on a lot of group tours over the years and I can truly say this was the best one.  A mixture of a wonderful country, stunning scenery, hundreds of optional activities to suit everyone's tastes, a fabulous group of people and a fantastic guide.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

It is extremely difficult to just choose one, as every day was so memorable.

Standing on top of Table Mountain looking at an amazing view of Cape Town moments after we stepped off the plane.  I knew it was going to be a great holiday if that was just the beginning!

Watching hundreds of penguins go about their business at Boulders Beach.

Wine tasting in Stellenbosch surrounded by the most wonderful scenery - bliss!

Sitting on top of an ostrich is something I'm definitely not going to forget!

Stargazing after a game drive in a private game reserve - I have never seen stars like them, truly amazing.

Entering a cage with 2 tame cheetahs was my absolute highlight.  I have never been so close to wild animals, it was magical.

The view at Storms River was breathtaking.

Feeding and stroking elephants at an elephant park in Knysna.  Again, being so close to the animals was amazing.

The beaches in Hermanus can be described as some of the best in the world.

The Township tour in Cape Town was an eye opener and a necessity - having enjoyed the scenery, we needed to see the real Africa as well.

Even the view from the plane as I left Cape Town was fantastic.

I think I have pretty much listed everything I did during the holiday, but that just shows how good it was.

What did you think of your group leader?
JP was just marvellous!  He made absolutely sure that we all had the best holiday we could possibly have.  He asked us all individually what was on our wishlist.  Whatever we came up with, he would make sure we did it.  He truly went above and beyond and has left us all with some fabulous photos and fantastic memories.  He is a true asset to Exodus and also has the patience of a saint!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
There are far more optional activities available that are not on the trip notes, so definitely take a bit more money with you to make sure you get the most out of your holiday, you don't want to miss out on anything.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I think its safe to say that I was pretty happy with the holiday, I have run out of superlatives to use!  The memories will stay with me for a long time, I'm certain of that.  A fantastic country, I'll definitely return one day.

I had some tredipidation about doing this kind of trip as a solo traveller who normally only does beach holidays - but my all my fears were allayed and I had a great time!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Too many great moments - but playing with 7 week old tiger cubs and stroking cheetah cubs was amazing.  Trying all the differant South African foods was great, not sure where I'm going to get Kudu or Gemsbok in the UK though!  The wine tasting was fab, and when the chap in the wine farm opened a special vintage (Delheim Vera Cruz 2006) that wasn't on the tour for us to taste we were rather shocked.  The most inspirational moment was standing looking at Nelson Mandela's cell on Robben Island and getting a tour from a former political prisoner, humbling more than insprirational, but certainly shows how much SA has changed in the 16 short years since the end of Aparthide.
What did you think of your group leader?
Andrew Lindsay, our tour leader, was great.  Top chap who managed to look after 7 women of various ages who were all rather independently minded!  I always felt safe and secure which for a female solo traveller is of paramount importance.  Andrew managed to combine leading the group and having fun excellently.  He was really knowledgable about the local wildlife and places to go.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
I didn't realise that you can check the demographics of the group before you go.  Although I quite like the element of suprise it would have been nice to see what the mix would have been beforehand.

A lovely holiday with a good mixture of activities and chill out time and not too much travelling.  There's history, walking, extreme sports, food, wine and wildlife.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The highlight of the trip was shark cage diving near Hermanus.  So amazing to see great whites up so close, really awe inspiring.  Trip to Robben Island was also fascinating as our guide was a former in mate and had spent 10 years with Mandela.
What did you think of your group leader?
Group leader was great, very laid back, told us everything we needed to know and was clearly passionate about his country with out the hard sell.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
There's so much to do on this trip, go for it, some things you'll not be able to do anywhere else.

What did you think of your group leader?

jamie the guide was really great, he took into account everyones requests and met them as much as possible within the tour. He also made you feel instantly at home in the country and on the tour, which is a must for a first timer such as myself!

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
having travel wash is a useful thing to have
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I would definately reccommend the singles tour for anyone on their own or travelling on their own, i ended up with a really great group of people.
