Reality Check
We run both Camping and Lodge/Hotel departures for this trip, both following a very similar itinerary.
Camping departures are fully supported, so all cooking and other camp chores are done for you which allows you to get the most out of your holiday. We will be camping everywhere except Swakopmund and Cape Town, in the very good and well-equipped campsites that are common to Southern Africa.
Lodge/Hotel departures offer an accommodated version of the camping trip, staying in a range of Standard and Comfortable Hotels. Breakfasts are usually eaten at the lodge restaurant, whilst lunches and a few dinners are typically prepared by the leaders and will be enjoyed in a camp-setting to give you the true open-air African experience. Some dinners will be eaten in lodge/hotel restaurants as well.
Transport for all departures is in a specially modified safari vehicle, part of the roof opens for game viewing and there is plenty of legroom and packing space. All vehicles carry a reference library, fridge and/or icebox. By keeping the group size deliberately small we are able to maximise the exposure to the great African wilderness. Surfaced roads in Namibia are good, but we will be driving on dirt roads for a few days, which can be bumpy in places.
Normal group size and age
Normally 6 to 12, plus guide/driver and camp assistant. Minimum age 18.
Misc
Hotel Departures
In response to client feedback, we now offer hotel/lodge based departures of our Cape Town to Victoria Falls trip. The itinerary is exactly the same as the standard camping departures. Please see the Trip Notes for full details.
Icons explained
The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together.
All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please
see our Solo Departures page.
Requires a spirit of adventure and some fitness, as the trip may involve more activities or longer journeys.
Mixed Activities: Activities may range from the ordinary (for example walking, cycling or whitewater rafting) to the damn right extraordinary (including caving, camel riding or canyoning).
Wildlife: Trips may be wholly wildlife focused, or contain an element of wildlife viewing within a less specific itinerary.
Wilderness: Visit the deserts, jungles, plateaux, tundra and mountains of all seven continents, including Antarctica.
Culture: Let Exodus show you a different side to many of the world's greatest cultural attractions.
