Snowshoeing In The Italian Alps

Day 1
Start in Valnontey (3km from Cogne)

Day 2 - 7
Five guided snowshoe daywalks, plus one free day.
We prefer not to specify in advance exactly where we will walk each day. This is to enhance the flexibility and adapt to weather and snow conditions and to some extent the ability of each group. When choosing routes, the leader's priority will be to take in a variety of scenery and to ensure everyone's safety. Our explorations take place in the heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park and possible routes include going up to Rifugio Sella at 2588m, offering sweeping views of the vast Lauson plateau and the surrounding snow-covered peaks and slopes. As we make our way up to Col Bardoney (2230m), we walk in a bucolic landscape through wooded lands, frozen streams and waterfalls.
All routes offer superb scenery, some opportunities for coffee breaks and it's not unusual to spot chamois and ibex in search of winter grazing.
On the free day you can either visit the historical city of Aosta, or try cross-country skiing with trails starting outside the hotel.
