CEC - CHAMONIX SNOWSHOE

Day 1
Start Argentiere in the Chamonix Valley (2hrs).


Day 2
From Plain Joux (1300 metres) we skirt above the Lac Vert and climb to Le Chatelet (1418 metres) for a coffee at the refuge while admiring the view across to Mont Blanc. Climbing to Ayeres des Rocs we see where the Roman road headed to Martigny and admire the Fiz Mountain, the largest limestone plateaux in Europe. A higher track brings us back to our start point.


Day 3
From Le Buet we explore the wild and picturesque Berrard Valley before rising high to the south facing Loriaz Plateau for fantastic views of the famous peaks of the Mont Blanc Massif including the Aiguille Vert, the Drus, and the Chardonnet. We will be able to see three countries at once (Italy, France and Switzerland)!


Day 4
After a short drive, we arrive at the Prarion ski lift to be whisked up to 1800 metres. Skirting round to 'La Charme' we have far reaching views up the Montjoie Valley and Mont Joli. We descend to the Col de Voza and then explore the romantic Bionet Valley before climbing to the Bellevue ski lift to descend to Les Houches by cable car.


Day 5
Free day. There are many options available: downhill skiing (lessons available), cross country skiing, a glacier walk with a UIAGM mountain guide, ice climbing, tandem paragliding, helicopter sightseeing flights over Mont Blanc, a trip on one of Europe's highest cable cars, the Aiguille du Midi, a ride on the Montenvers train to view the 'Mer de Glace', free rides on the Mont Blanc express train and local busses to Chamonix for shopping and sightseeing, visit Chamonix's sport centre with swimming pool, hamman, sauna, and gym, indoor tennis, squash...... the choice is endless.


Day 6
Leaving the hotel on snowshoes, a flexible day exploring the local area with it's ancient farmhouses, charming hamlets and stunning mountain views.


Day 7
Just across the Chamonix Valley from the Mont Blanc summit, our track takes us up to the Chalets de Chailloux for an unrivalled panorama of Mont Blanc and its plunging glaciers. We detour through forest clearings for further extensive views of the mountains to the North.


Day 8
End Argentiere.
