An active holiday, based in a superb wilderness camp in Arctic Finland
Basecamp Oulanka, our 'wilderness camp', is a lovely complex of wooden buildings providing comfortable and cosy accommodation in a stunning location overlooking a lake, and backing on to the Oulanka National Park. During the stay we include a varied programme of activities including dogsledding, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Free time can be spent using the cross-country skis or snowshoe equipment available at the lodge, or in the sauna and hot-tub. The ski resort of Ruka is a 20 minute taxi ride away - for a night out, snowmobile safari or a day of downhill skiing.

PAN Parks
PAN Parks is a Europe-wide organisation, founded by WWF, which promotes tourism as a tool for wilderness and nature conservation. To join the PAN Parks network, a protected area must cover a core area of 10,000 hectares, which can be classified as true wilderness, high standards of conservation and visitor management; and also produce a Sustainable Tourism Development Plan. The aim of this plan will be to ensure that the protected area is managed and developed in a way that benefits all interests in and around the park - local residents, locally owned small businesses, wildlife and conservation interests, as well as providing a quality visitor experience.
At Exodus we think management of such protected areas in this way is crucial for their survival, and we believe the PAN Parks format is an excellent way to help Europe maintain its wilderness areas, at the same time as promoting their use as a recreational resource.
