What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
I enjoyed the whole range of activities we did throughout the week. Husky dog sledding was a personal favourite and snowshoeing and cross-country skiing across the frozen lake were magical. We were also lucky enough to see the northern lights- a tick for the bucket list! The hot tub and sauna were a welcome activity at the end of the day and sitting in the hot tub watching the sun set and the stars come out was a great way to end the day!
What did you think of your group leader?
Teddy was a fantastic leader. He was skilled at all of the activities, made them all really fun (playing ultimate frizbee in snowshoes was a highlight!) and was very knowledgable about the local area. He was very patient in our repeated requests of "when can we see the northern lights?"! The other guides and staff at Basecamp were fantastic too.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
A brilliant trip and opportunity to try a range of winter activities in a stunning landscape. Highly recommended!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Can't wait to go back!

A fantastic holiday really enjoyed all the activities especially the Huskys and the Quinze Building (felt like a real achievement to build and sleep in it). The surrounding area was beautiful and it felt like a real break to re charge batteries. Accommodation and food were ideal and the guides were all really helpful, professional, good fun and along with all the other great people I met, made the holiday.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The Quinzee building day was great it was a real team effort and a real achievement to spend all day building it to then sleep in it even though it was -14 outside and -4 inside. You had to trust your building skills and the help from the guides. To wake up and see the sun rise on a frozen lake surrounded by beautiful views was amazing.
What did you think of your group leader?
Teddy was great fun, really helpful and great at instructing everyone. We appreciated his knowledge of the area and it came across that he enjoyed his job which allowed him to pass on his enthusiasm to us.

We took a travel kettle which was great if we wanted to chill out in our room. If you want to see the northern lights properly you need a good quality camera and the guys all had tripods as you are waiting around a bit in the cold.
Just get involved and try and do everything as some things could be daunting (ice climbing) however everything is set up for all abilities so worth a shot.
Additional experiences are quite pricey so if you do want to do the extras best to save up some pocket money!

My holiday starts with the planning. I wanted an experience. Once I decided on my Lapland adventure I try to book. I have to say this part of the holiday was the worst. Very poor customer service and it did make me think twice about booking with them, especially for the amount of money they charged. I had a call from the office manager and aired my views but was greeted with very little active listening and poor customer service skills. Also note this trip was a 7 days rather then 8 days (as we left the venue at 7am thus missing a whole day of activities). This meant that I couldn’t take part in all the activities I wanted to, as I had to squeeze activities into less time. I didn’t make a quince L but with the promise of a hot water bottle managed to negotiate my sleeping spot in one that was built that day. The holiday itself was amazing. I hope some of the moments I experienced on this holiday will live with me forever. Flying out, again showed the lack of customer service. I had booked veggie meals all week at the venue but they didn’t book a veggie meal for the plane – so no food for me then!! Landing in Helsinki was magically, icey sea swirls, dim lights peeked through the blank of snow – it looked like a xmas tree to my. The transfer to the final airport and destination was smooth. All the staff at the venue were amazing – happy, friendly, helpful, caring and great fun. The tour guide was great fun. “The wardrobe” under the dining room was a treasure cave of thermal layers, various boots and equipment. Personally I enjoyed the snowshoeing and husky sledding the most. The group was a great mix of abilities, ages, and outlook on life. The food was good and the venue was keep clean and warm.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The activty I will remember most will be the Husky Sledding.
What did you think of your group leader?
All the staff at the venue were amazing – happy, friendly, helpful, caring and great fun. The tour guide was great fun.

The trip I experienced was 7 days rather than 8 days so plan your activities/time well. They have lots and lots of clothes/equipment so not worry about feeling the cold. If you do feel the cold then think about those hand warmer discs. The cost of lunch ( soup and bread) at 11 euros is a little steep. Do take your swimmers and experience the sauna, snow bath and hot hub with a bottle of beer.
A holiday that`s completely different-the furthest North I`ve ever been-close to Arctic circle, fantastic scenery and climate- great activities, aching in every muscle when i got home, so I know it`s been a good holiday!
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Husky sledding up on a high fell.. surreal snowy blobs that are trees, fantastic golden light and sky, what a place to get to. and the only control needed for the dogs was to stand on the brake.
Also really pleased I tried Ice climbing- excellent equipment, brilliant instruction, and i got to the top of all 3 routes!
lovely to have reliable ice and snow to try all these things. And Not be cold!
What did you think of your group leader?
Different activities led by different staff members- consistently good teaching in use of equipment, techniques, humour and patience shown at all times-and by us!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Give it a go- it`s easier than you think
Leave your everyday life behind- go out to play in the snow-
the right gear and the right teaching- and a truly fabulous environment- you can achieve anything if you try
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Crikey I sound a bit positive ... but this holiday`s alright...!
Wow....... That all that comes to my head when I think of this week, holiday set in a amazing environment, participating in varied activities with awesome people. Waking up in a snow cave to silence, crawling out to be greeted to a frozen lake covered in snow.......bliss
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Husky sledging through blanket of white snow and all you can hear is the dogs sprinting is breathtaking, feels like your in a dream and you don't want to wake up from it. Whereas snowmobiling over a frozen lake is different speeding up and down hills and just feeling the adrenaline of your in control of this machine is amazing!
What did you think of your group leader?
Bjorne aka Teddy is very good at his job, knew so much information about the surrounding areas, history of the country and the activities participating in. He became one of the group rather than a leader.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Be prepared to spend money, a lot of extras but so worth it!! Also even though they give you thermals I would advise brining some of your own stuff as well.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Make the most of every seeing your there, go sledging its free and fun! Hit the hot tub and sauna you'll need it after a day of activities, and make sure you do a sauna snow roll! And a optional activity that's a must is a full day huskies! Expensive but worth every single penny! You can never get bored of those cuties
An excellent holiday providing an introduction to a whole range of snowy activities in a stunning location. The only problem is it ends too soon and then you have to go back to the real world.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Too many to pick from. I loved the variety of activities and the scenery and surroundings were just out of this world. It really is a magical location, whether you're walking through the forest on snow shoes, x-country skiing over the lake or hanging on as the huskies or reindeer take you on an adventure.
I didn't expect to have so much fun shovelling snow all day to build a quinzee, but it was great fun.
What did you think of your group leader?
Teddy/Bjorn was an excellent group leader, very enthusiastic about his job and all the activities. He was always friendly and helpful, as were all the staff at Basecamp. You couldn't ask for better.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
After spending a whole day building your quinzee you really should stay the night in it - when will you get another chance to sleep in a snow cave?
Be prepared to spend some money on the optional activities - it might seem expensive but it's worth it. And make use of all the equipment in your free afternoons. The 'Little Bear Trail' is a lovely walk to do on snow-shoes with some great views.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
We were unlucky and didn't get to see the northern lights but I'm not too disappointed - it gives me a good excuse to go back again!
