- Luxurious hotel in wilderness location
- Superb restaurant serving local dishes
- All departures guaranteed

In the remote east of Finland, close to the border with Russia, and surrounded by frozen lakes and vast forests, is the charming Hotel Kalevala. This is a highlight of the trip, as not only does the hotel have excellent facilities, but is also set in a stunning wilderness location, perfect for a week of winter activities. Here our varied programme includes cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and a full day driving dogsleds with friendly, lively huskies. There is even the opportunity to try a spot of ice-fishing and if you are brave enough, the traditional Finnish ice-plunge. We leave two days free for optional trips or further participation in whatever you have enjoyed the most. All the excursions (apart from dogsledding) begin directly from our hotel, and after your day's activities you can unwind in a soothing sauna and dine beside spectacular views of the lake as you sample the excellent local dishes.
