Hotel Adler was wonderful.  The snow-shoeing was amazing and the views were incredible. Our guide Karl was superb, he constantly gave over and above what was expected in terms of making sure that we each got everything we could from the holiday.  The area is lovely and I am looking forward to going back again.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
I wasn't sure whether I would be happy 'in the snow' but I absolutely loved it.  The final day's snow-shoeing was one of the best days of my life.  I loved the energy expenditure, the scenery, the weather and the whole day was a complete pleasure.
What did you think of your group leader?
Karl was so accommodating in every way.  He gave up his day off to take us out!  We had been delayed at Gatwick and lost a day but he gave it us back by giving up his own time.  He is the perfect guide; not only knowledgeable but a lot of fun too!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

As it is winter, the weather can be extremely cold (it was relatively warm for two of our days).  You must be prepared by bringing enough kit.  Gloves need to be able to keep you warm at -10 degrees and sometimes colder.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
The area is lovely.  I would like to go back in the Summer but I don't think Exodus do that trip?  If Karl was the guide; Andrew (my husband) and I would book a summer trip immediately.

The hotel was one of the most enjoyable I have ever stayed at. The food was superb, the facilities excellent, but above all the service was perfect. Absolutely everybody contributed to a very enjoyable experience

Loads of snow, freezing cold, and great walks and views every day. Along with the splendid Hotel Adler and a friendly group of fellow snow walkers it all made for a really enjoyable week.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The views from Monte Piana are truely spectacular and well worth the effort of getting there. Going downhill in deep snow also had its entertainment value, use of the backside being optional (or not on some occasions!).
What did you think of your group leader?
Duncan was an excellent leader, relaxed and knew his way around the local area.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Go with the view of having a laugh and take enough kit to keep warm.

Check the flights Exodus book you on though. I ended up on a group flight to Venice which is over three hours by road from Villabassa. This meant a very late night arrival and then a very early departure on the last day of the holiday.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Great trip and leader, pity about the flight arrangements.

I had a great holiday. Everything was right, the location, the hotel, the weather, the snow, the walks and the company.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
There were several. Coming out of trees to fantastic views of snow covered mountains all around against blue skies.
What did you think of your group leader?
I thought Duncan had the perfect combination of being extremely competent with a relaxed manner which helped everyone really enjoy their holiday.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
A general fitness is a good idea as snowshoeing needs a bit more energy than ordinary walking. You do not need any great skill so it is easy to pick up and it is a lot of fun.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I think I am hooked on snowshoeing and wish I had started when I was a bit younger. However I intend to continue as long as I can. Next year Chamonix or failing that Slovenia. It will depend on what is available as my mid term dates are fixed around same dates as this year( hint, hint, exodus)

This trip gave me a true taste of what the Dolomites have to offer, wonderful scenery, challenging days, a luxurious hotel to return to each evening, fantastic meals and excellent staff both in the hotel and those employed by Exodus as guides.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

For me the most inspiring day was when we climbed the Fellhorn 2518m, it had been a relentless climb from the very start but the final few steps with lungs bursting, muscles screaming and sunshine blinding me as I stepped onto the top of the pleateau with a 360 degree panorama of snow covered mountains suddenly the whole effort was so worthwhile I felt I was standing on top of the world, that image is now forever burnt into my memory a truley magic mountain moment.

What did you think of your group leader?
Sara was an inspiration she led the group with professionalism, her local knowledge was very good, she responded well with the group and was forever watchful  to any needs that arose and was great fun to be with. I certainly would enjoy being in a group led by Sara again.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
If you are thinking of taking a snowshoeing holiday remember to pack your sense of humour you are bound to fall over at some point it's all part of the fun!.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I would love to do it all over again!

This was a superb holiday from first to last. The Hotel Adler is exceptional in terms of comfort, atmosphere and particularly the food, which as a bit of a foodie I considered always good and sometimes outstanding, with a wine list of local wines to match. The snowshoeing itself was sometimes challenging, but always rewarding in terms of the matchless views when we reached the top of wherever we were trying to get to. We were extremely fortunate with a week of continuous weather, and in having a very companionable friendly group.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

    1. Getting to the top of all the hills and mountains we set out to get up.

    2. Seeing some of the other group members getting themselves further than they thought they could.

    3. Persuading myself to do all the walks on offer and completing them.

    4. The gourmet fish dinner put on by the hotel on our free day. One of the best €60 (4 courses and wine included) I have ever spent.

What did you think of your group leader?
Sara Bull was one of the best group leaders I have come across, and I have been on many holidays of this type. She was engaging, encouraging, attentive, organised and never flustered, displaying a wealth of knowledge both of the locality and of adventure activities generally of which she had huge experience, which also inspired great confidence in her abilities.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Take a thermos flask with you - a hot drink on the mountain tops is unbeatable, although if you forget, there is a shop just across the square from the hotel which sells them.

Don't wear too many layers of clothing when walking - take some extra with you. There are lots of big uphills, which are challenging but manageable for most people, but which generate alot of heat in the process.

Take a rucksack with some external straps so you can carry your snowshoes attached to it if necessary - the fittings on mine for carrying walking poles seemed to work for me.

The rule in the wellness centre (which we weren't told until the last day by a member of staff who was there), is naked on a towel in the sauna and naked in the steam room. Both are mixed sex. All shapes and sizes.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Don't expect to lose weight on this holiday - the food and drink and the exercise just about cancel each other out !!!

A fantastic week, with spectacular scenery, great weather, a brilliant group of fellow snowshoers and an inspirational leader.  My first snowshoeing holiday, but I doubt it will be my last.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Has to be reaching the summit of Lutterkopf - the long, hard slog uphill through the forest was immediately forgotten when we emerged from the trees onto the summit to be rewarded with the most amazing 360 degree panorama of the Dolomites.  If I had had any breath left after that climb, the view took it away again!

What did you think of your group leader?
Sara was fantastic - very knowledgable, very attentive, great fun, always seemed to be giving 110% to the group.  She always made sure we were getting the most out of the trip, and was always able to make some fantastic food and drink recommendations when we stopped for breaks at the mountain huts.  Couldn't ask for more.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
If you've never been snoeshoeing before, as long as you enjoy hill walking, you'll love this.
Is there anything else you would like to add?

The hotel was great - family run with a really nice personal touch so often lacking in hotels.  Going for a swim in the pool every evening after returning from our walk was a great way to wind down.
