Start Moena (approx. 2½ hours from Verona airport).
Day 2 - 7
We prefer not to specify in advance where we will ski each day. This is to enhance the flexibility and adapt to weather, snow and track conditions and to some extent the ability of the group.
On Day 2 We head up to the ski centre of Lavaze where we pick up our skis and reacquaint ourselves with cross-country skiing. Lavaze is a beautiful place to start our week high up at 1800 metres above sea level. Though not part of the race route it is the perfect place for some tuition and some reasonably challenging routes to start our week.
Rest of the week - Using a mix of public transport and private transfers, never longer than an hour, we will be able to access a wonderful variety of terrain and views. Each valley is different and as we get back into our glide, we can also discover this breathtaking area of Val di Fiemme's quiet villages as well as the picturesque and popular towns of the Val di Fassa. During the week we are likely to ski towards Canazei directly from Moena. We will also go to the Lago di Tesero area, a cross-country skiing centre which hosted 3 world cups.
Being based in Moena itself, at a central point on the Marcialonga route, we hope to be able to ski about 90% of the race prior to the event (if all tracks have been adequately prepared). When choosing routes, the leader's priority will be to ensure that the terrain is appropriate for technique tuition and helps with the preparation for the race.
One day will be spent in Cavalese where the race will fniish, to collect our race entry numbers (day 6). There will also be free time to visit the stalls selling ski equipment and memorabilia, to rest and enjoy the exciting pre-race atmosphere or to get some more practice in before the big day!
On race day, we only have to walk 10 minutes from the hotel to reach the start line just outside Moena. And in the evening, we celebrate our incredible achievement with a special gala dinner at our hotel.
