Being at the centre of the most efficiently integrated ski transport and trail network in the Dolomites, Dobbiaco is a cross-country skiers’ mecca. It is also the first resort we’ve come across with snow-making cannons for their cross country trails, so that novices and experts alike can gain maximum enjoyment from their holiday here.
Every morning (ex Wed), there is a 2hr lesson with an experienced ski instructor. With trails starting from right outside the hotel door, newcomers find their feet easily on the sunny valley trails that link the charming neighbouring villages of Villabassa and San Candido.
The regular ski bus allows you to ski as much or as little as you want, and makes one-way downhill runs easy to organise.

Our Cross-Country Skiing Taster trips allow people to get a taste of what cross-country skiing is like without the pressure of keeping up with a group. There is no leader for this trip but it is perfect if this is your first time in the tracks and want to gradually build confidence independently. This trip is run in partnership with our sister company, Headwater, who offer more flexibility so you can ski as much or as little as you like. Children may join these holidays as long as they can participate in the activities and please note if travelling on your own, a single supplement will be applied. Insurance details are required at the time of booking.
What makes this trip responsible?
During this trip we stay in a family-run third generation hotel. To minimise our impact we travel in a small group of only eight passengers. We also use a local ski school for our lessons with expert instructors who have incredible knowledge of their area.
