Frequently Asked Questions
About Your Trip
What kind of luggage should I take?
There's really no restiction, whatever feels comfortable for you. Whether that's a wheelie case or a rucksack, you won't be carrying it too far so don't worry!

Do I need to love dogs for the husky safari?
If you are considering this trip, it's good to be is a dog person, as most of the time revolves around them! If you are not prepared to handle the dogs (sometimes quite firmly), and work for them then maybe you should think again. You should be prepared to get dog poop on your hands (!) and obviously there will be times that you do get cold but, saying that, the equipment supplied was first class.

Sterling cash is best, and just change it locally when you arrive. You can arrange some local currency in advance but there is really no need and no advantage in doing so. ATMs are widely available as well, in case you need to top up towards the end of the trip!

Is Donovaly easy to get to by myself?
The Donovaly resort is part of the Low Tatras National Park and is one of the most popular ski resorts in Slovakia, and of course known for hosting international dogsledding events. It is about a 3.5hr drive from Krakow and, while possible to get to by yourself, we strongly recommend meeting the group first and taking the transfer with them.
Please contact Exodus for further details.

How comfortable is the Donovaly pension?
Accommodation for this tour has been chosen to be cost effective but comfortable. We will be based in a traditional-style pension in the Donovaly resort for the duration of this trip. Twin rooms will have en suite facilities and the two single rooms share one bathroom in the corridor. Meals of traditional and international cuisine will be available in resort.

Winter Activities Specific Questions
For more information on the different types of winter trips that we do, please have a look at our Winter Activies programme online.
Our leaders will do their utmost to ensure the personal safety and security of our clients, but all winter activities do bring a risk of physical injury. Beginners to certain activities such as cross-country skiing or ski-touring will inevitably fall over many times; usually the falls are minor and are regarded as part of the fun, but occasionally more serious injuries (such as broken bones) occur. On all mountain winter holidays we have to take extra care for our clients’ safety. Where there is a risk of avalanche, falling on slopes or dangers due to the cold, our guides are extra cautious. If the guide considers situations to be above a reasonable level of risk, activities may have to be cancelled. However, please note that we can never completely eliminate all risks.
