Itinerary
Day 1
Fly from Gatwick to Ljubljana with Adria Airways (20.50 - 23.55), transfer by road to Bled (30 mins).
Day 2 - 4
Three guided snowshoe walks in the National Park.
We have chosen not to state an exact day-to-day itinerary, this gives us the flexibility to choose the most suitable walks depending on local snow conditions.
From Bled we have access to excellent snowshoeing trails throughout the Triglav National Park . At the high plateau of Pokljuka (1,300m) we snowshoe through peaceful spruce forests with stunning views towards the Julian Alps and the Triglav massif. On another day we travel to Tamar, on the Italian and Austrian borders. We spend two days at Bohinj, Slovenia's largest glacier lake, where we explore unspoilt valleys and open meadows before ascending to the Bogatin plateau for a two-day expedition where our route passes the seven Triglav lakes.
Day 5
Free day with options for downhill skiing at Kranska Gora or a trip to the world-famous Skocjan Caves.
Day 6 - 7
Two-day snowshoe expedition on the high plateau of Bogatin, overnighting in a mountain hut. The route is challenging as we rise from 600m to 1500m on the first day passing Bohinjsko Jezero, Slovenia's largest glacier lake on the way. The second day is spent exploring the ridges above Bogatin, with breathtaking views and equally breathtaking snowshoeing.
Day 8
Free morning in Bled, before returning to Ljubljana. Fly from Ljubljana to Gatwick (18.30 - 19.50). Flight times subject to confirmation.
