CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING: TRIGLAV NATIONAL PARK
8 days from GBP825 to GBP895 including flights
Tripcode: CXG
Itinerary
- Day 1
- Fly from Gatwick to Ljubljana with Adria Airways (20:50- 23:55); transfer by road to Bled (approx. 1/2 hour).
- Day 2 - 7
- We prefer not to specify in advance where we will ski each day. This is to enhance the flexibility and adapt to weather and snow conditions and to some extent the ability of each group. When choosing routes, the leader's priority will be to take in a variety of scenery and to ensure that participants become better and more confident skiers as the week progresses. Examples of skiing options: Routes begin from outside our pension, taking us into the National Park and alongside the Sava Bohinjska river. At Bohinj trails wind along the unspoilt valleys through open meadows and past the glacial lake of Bohinjsko Jezero. We spend two days exploring routes on the high plateau of Pokljuka, set at 1300m. With over 400km of prepared trails for all levels, we ski amid the peaceful spruce forests with stunning views over the National Park towards the Julian Alps and the Triglav massif. On another day we travel to Tamar, on the Italian and Austrian borders. Here routes start from the mountain hamlet of Ratece and pass frozen lakes and waterfalls into the Valley of Tamar and the foot of the rugged western peaks of the Julian Alps. Many tracks are prepared for both classic and skating techniques.
- Day 8
- Return transfer to Ljubljana. Fly Ljubljana to Gatwick (18:30 - 19:50). Flight times subject to confirmation.
