Countries Visited: Norway
- Fantastic variety of terrain
- Stunning remote scenery
- Unique accommodation

The island of Hovden is home to the Mosstrond Turisthytte, formerly a boarding school and now the perfect place to indulge your passion for cross-country skiing. Our setting is Lake Mosvatn, on the edge of the Hardangervidda National Park in a beautifully remote part of Norway. The terrain is unrivalled, and all on your doorstep. Setting out across the frozen lake we explore the majesty of the winter landscape, and have the chance to develop both confidence and skill whilst discovering new routes and trails every day. The skiing will be predominantly off track, as the location suggests, with the only tracks you are likely to see being those of elk or reindeer. The hospitality and local knowledge of your hosts Philip and Maiken Yatman will ensure you make the most of your week in this spectacular region.

The 'Waymark Experience' stamp points to our range of classic cross-country ski holidays that come from the Waymark stable, but are now operated by Exodus. Loyal Waymark clients will notice many tried and tested locations which are staffed by many of their favourite Waymark leaders.
What makes this trip responsible?
Tourism can be a real help to local communities, providing income, positive cultural exchanges and a financial incentive to protect their natural environment.
Ours is a 'total approach' to responsible tourism, covering everything from the way we plan and operate our trips to the practices of Exodus as a company. Exodus trips are designed to allow a high degree of economic benefit to the local communities; we buy local produce, eat local food and use local services, thus ensuring that as much money as possible is retained within the local economies and the host communities. With our responsible tourism policy we are continually reassessing our holidays, trying at all times to ensure that they are socially, economically and environmentally sound.
Responsible tourism and cross-country skiing
Our cross-country skiing holidays in general avoid large alpine ski areas, and are less dependent on snow cannons, graded pistes and ski lifts, creating significantly less environmental impact than alpine skiing holidays. Journeys further afield aim to utilise public transport and the local economy benefits from our groups purchasing lunches and supplies directly.
