  What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

  Skiing one afternoon on my own in the Alpenbad loipe near the hotel, it's a great easy track with some slope so you can whizz along. The beautiful scenery, sunshine combined with growing confidence in technique was very satisfying.

  Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

  The hotel is comfortable, but there are no shops around and the nearest shop is 30 mins walk away in Weidach. On the first day the leader kindly took us to a supermarket after getting our skis. Hotel facilities: there is good wifi (there is a charge), the sauna is a nude one, the pool small but ok. The afternoon tea really counts as lunch - soup, salad and cake (!). The bar shuts at 9pm. I went at the end of the season - a lot of the huts/cafes along the tracks were closed and there weren't too many people out on the snow due to the conditions. But snow conditions did improve!  I'm a new skier and since this time I ski-ed a lot on my own, I would have preferred a bit more company on the tracks particularly since the locals were so helpful when I got into trouble!   I previously tried XC in Norway and the tracks were busy but people coped well with beginners, they just ski-ed round us - and families were skiing together complete with baby in tow on a sled!

  Is there anything else you would like to add?

  With hindsight, I think that I should have been practising the two techniques to get up and down hill every day under supervision to build confidence. But I got the main technique even though I was slow.  I do love the cross country technique - no stress on the knees and a great workout. I would go to this area again, but in the high season so that there are more people around and more things open. One very sunny day in this week, the cafe at the Wildmoos was packed with lots of people sitting outside and the owner bought the strudel round on a trolley with a police siren...very entertaining!
