Lots of snow - a good leader - a fit group - and a great landscape. There was a lot of wind chill on a couple of days - but on the other days there were lots of opportunities to see and enjoy the wilderness of the landscape.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Thre was a tremendous feeling of remotness - that we were the only people on the mountains - and on some days - we were the only people on the mountains. This was awesome.
What did you think of your group leader?
Vincent is a local mountain leader - he is French - he is good, he is friendly - and he took us through some great snow covered mountain scenery.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
You need to be prepared for cold temperatures (which everyone was) - but don't overload the ruck sack as I did - being slightly over prepared!!

An excellent, interesting and challenging itinerary, with some absolutely spectacular views. Our Guide Vincent did everything he could to make the trip a great success in spite of the unusually low temperatures.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Reaching the Col du Grand Clos (over 2800 metres) on the final day of the 'trek'. Massive views over the mountains and no wind, so able to have lunch there in the sun.
What did you think of your group leader?
I met Vincent on the Tour de Queyras last year and was keen to go with him again.  He is by far the best snow shoeing guide and the best tour leader I have had through all my trips with Exodus. His knowledge of, and competence in the mountains is excellent. He inspires confidence. He is also warm, considerate and very good company and his planning is spot-on. I am already looking forward to another trip with him next year!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
This is a demanding trip and not for those new to snow shoeing or those unsure of their mountain fitness. The huts can also be very cold in temperatures which went down to minus 25C at times.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I hope Exodus will work with Vincent to plan another new and challenging trip next year.

This trip had been eagerly awaited, by myself and several others, since doing the Queyras trip last year.  It lived up to, and exceeded, all our expectations - brilliant (but hard)!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Everyone in the group reaching the first high col (over 2800m) after an increasingly steep climb and then to have a superb vista of alpine peaks in front of us.

A slightly higher col was reached  on the last day after a longer climb with an even steeper finish - a magnificent lunch spot in the sun, again with terrific views.

What did you think of your group leader?
Vincent is a wonderful group leader, hard to fault in any way.  He is constantly alert to any dangers, always looking for the best and most enjoyable routes in the circumstances of the day, considerate of those who cannot go quite as fast as some, and he goes out of his way to ensure we all get the most from our trip.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

If you want to do this trip do try snowshoeing somewhere less challenging beforehand if you can and make sure you are fit.  This trip does involve a lot of climbing - and even going down can be hard work.  Be prepared for cold weather - the temperature rarely got above -10 when we were there, which is fine in the sun but if the wind blows it feels much colder.

There are 3 nights in mountain huts so be prepared for limited creature comforts such as heating and hot showers.  Down jacket a must have.  You will be well fed though.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
I met friends from previous trip(s) which was great, and made new ones, some of whom I think may well appear on a trip next year.  At the end, we all were looking forward to next year's trip - and wondering where it would be!
