GORILLA THRILLER - RWANDA FAMILY HOLIDAY

Sir David Attenborough has been quoted as saying that seeing the gorillas was a highlight of his long and illustrious career - few who have witnessed these magnificent creatures in their natural setting would disagree. Parc National des Volcans, with its mist-covered hillsides, dormant volcanoes and bamboo forest, provides a fitting backdrop for what is sure to be a magical experience. The trekking can be difficult as our Gorilla Tracker cuts a path through the forest but the reward is immense as we come eye to eye with our closest relative. It is not just this that makes Rwanda a wonderful destination; it is the stunning inland beaches of Lake Kivu, the vast protected forest with opportunities for some smaller primate spotting and the busy towns of Butare and Kigali where there is an opportunity to learn more about Rwanda's history. As it emerges onto the tourist map the rewards of this country are truly inspiring.
