Accommodation
The Centres We use two different hotels in the lovely mountain village of Arenas de Cabrales. Hotel Torrecerredo Our first choice is the Torrecerredo, a family-run hotel, situated in quiet meadows a few hundred metres from the edge of the village. It has a pleasant garden terrace, and all rooms have en suite facilities. Villa de Cabrales Where necessary, we also use the Villa de Cabrales, located in the village of Arenas (just 4 minutes walk from the Torrecerredo). This comfortable 2 star hotel is built of local stone, has 26 rooms, all en suite, and has been tastefully refurbished. Self-catering apartments are also available. These have a double/twin bedroom with sofabeds in the living area. See Trip Notes and prices box for more details.

An active trip with the option for plenty of time outdoors; unpredictable weather patterns.Trip Trivia Picos de Europa harbours 130 pairs of Griffon Vultures and although one of the heaviest birds in the sky, they usually fly at 1500m (4500ft). One even collided with an aircraft flying at 11,270 metres (37,000ft) - the highest altitude at which any bird has been identified.
