FEP - PICOS MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE FAMILY HOLIDAY
  • Fly to Bilbao, transfer to Arenas.
    Fly to Bilbao, transfer to Arenas.
  • Caving or horse riding.
    Sunday - Caving or horse riding
    Caving: Morning session at the Cueva de Alba, suitable for under 12s (accompanied by an adult). The cave consists of a series of large chambers connected by walk-through passages. The afternoon session is in La Cueva de Llonin, which requires a small amount of crawling and climbing. Both caves are dry.
    Duration: 2½ hours including transport
    Minimum Age: 5 and 10 years
    Horse riding: In the foothills of the Picos. No experience is required, as the riding parties can be split according to experience.
    Duration: 2 hours
    Minimum Age: 5 years
  • Rock climbing or treasure hunt.
    Monday – Rock-climbing or treasure hunt
    Rock-climbing: Easy rock-climbing session on the outskirts of Arenas. Designed for those with no experience. All routes are top-roped for maximum safety. After initial instruction we will climb in groups of three. Those with experience or more confidence can try more testing routes that are available in the same location.
    Duration: up to 5 hours
    Minimum Age: 10 years
    Treasure hunt: A fun way to learn to use a map and compass, with some treasure at the end!
    Duration: 3-5 hours
    Minimum Age: 5 years
  • Cares Gorge walk.
    Tuesday - Cares Gorge Walk (No cost, not part of inclusive activities)
    A self-guided hike up and down the dramatic Cares gorge. The bottom of the gorge is not far from our hotel, and we walk up the spectacular chasm as far as we wish before turning back. In places the wide trail is cut into a steep cliff-face.
    Duration: 3-6 hours, depending on how far you choose to walk.
    Minimum Age: 6 years
  • Canyoning or Ribadesella Beach and museum.
    Wednesday - Canyoning or Ribadesella beach and museum
    Canyoning: Usually in the Amieva Gorge. In the course of our 2 to 3 hour descent there are 6 abseils (12 metres. max), 3 optional jumps into deep pools and 2 water slides!
    Duration: 5-6 hours including transport.
    Minimum Age: 8 years
    Requirements: Participants must be able to swim.
    Ribadesella beach: For the younger kids we recommend a visit to the beach, also site of Europe's largest dinosaur footprints, and a visit to the Jurassic museum.
    Duration: 5-6 hours
    Minimum Age: 3 years
  • Self-guided biking or house of honey.
    Thursday - Self-guided biking or house of honey
    Self-guided biking: Two routes are available leaving directly from the hotel. Mostly on easy dirt roads, or quiet tarmac, we ride through the scenic foothills of the Picos. Bike, helmet and route description are provided.
    Duration: 2-5 hours, depending on how far you choose to ride.
    Minimum Age: 8 years
    House of honey: Learn how honey is produced from the flower to the packaging and how it maintains our ecosystem (lunch included).
    Duration: 2 hours
    Minimum Age: 3 years
  • Canoeing or quad-biking.
    Friday - Canoeing or quad-biking
    Canoeing: A fun day out canoeing in open boats down the river Sella. Covering about 15 kms in total, the route includes some easy class I rapids. Lunch included.
    Duration: 5-6 hours including transport.
    Minimum Age: 5 years
    Requirements: Must be able to swim
    Guided quad-bike ride: These are 2 person bikes, so children can ride as passengers at no charge.
    Duration: 3½ hours including transport.
    Minimum Age: Drivers: 17 years. Passengers: 5 years
    Requirements: Drivers must have a valid driving licence.
  • Return to London.
