Waterfalls cascade into the rapid flowing and extremely cold Esen River, which over millennia has cut a deep canyon through the ancient rocks. Using a walkway we explore the mouth of the canyon and can progress further in by getting our feet wet! Waterproof sandals may come in handy here, however rubber shoes are also available to hire locally for 2TL.
There is also the opportunity to go tubing after the Canyon Walk (approx 30TL per person). Tubing is a fun activity in which you sit in a rubber ring with a paddle and head off down river.

Friday - Morning: Weekly town market. Afternoon: Visit mountain village (included in cost of holiday)
Every Friday morning in Kas a colourful local market takes place with a wonderful variety of fruit and vegetables along with clothes and household goods. Many villagers from the mountains also attend and it is into this area that we travel this afternoon.
The scenery is dramatic, with extensive pine and cedar forests framing the Ak Dag Mountain range, which are snow-capped until July. We spend the night in a traditional village house with very basic facilities and communal sleeping rooms - however we can also sleep out under the stars (weather permitting). The warmth of the welcome and the insight into rural Turkish life should make this a lasting memory.
The village stay with services of a guide, transport, dinner and breakfast is included in the holiday cost. A sheet sleeping liner is required by all participants and sturdy shoes are recommended.

After breakfast we take a 45 minute walk through the village for exploration before returning to Kas. Afternoon free.

It provides a beautiful environment of rock formations, rushing water and some great spots for abseiling. After a transfer of approximately 55km we reach the entrance of the canyon. We venture around 400 metres into the canyon to get an up close view of the fascinating rock formations and impressive location. We then try our hand at an abseil of approximately 4m into the lagoon at the bottom. After changing out of our wet clothes we have a picnic under the old pine trees.

A visit to mountain plateau village of Gombe.
We take a 90 minute transfer to the mountain village of Gombe, at the foot of Akdag which reaches 3020 metres into the sky. We visit a fish farm in the morning to experience local methods. The plateau of Gombe is famous for its apples and cold, fresh mountain water, and we visi the bazaar where we have the chance to try 'serbet' a drink prepared using snow water.
