  Our whole family was enthralled by charming Laos and its kind people.  We saw awe-inspiring sights and landscapes in both Laos and Cambodia and felt we had a thoroughly foreign adventure.  A great trip Exodus.

  What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

  Its difficult to settle on a single moment but among many highlights were the ancient capital of Luang Prabang in Laos with its calm demeanour and peaceful temples, sailing lazily down the broad Mekong river, climbing to the top of Angkor Wat and realising the scale and complexity of the site or simply watching the river people of Tonle Sap simply going about their waterborn lives.  Or maybe it was when the road was blocked by a mudslide and the local villagers kindly came out and pushed our minivan through the thick mud, laughing and smiling all the way.

  What did you think of your group leader?

  All three leaders were brilliant.  Our Thailand guide Beam was very knowledgable and great with the kids.  Pheng in Laos used to be a monk so kept the kids spellbound with his insights and card tricks.  Sarun was the consummate guide to the Angkor complex and took us to a lovely lotus farm where we learned that lotus seeds make the tastiest snacks.

  Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

  Trust your guides, they know exectly what they're doing.  Enjoy the slow pace of the trip and accept that the accommodation, while fastidiously clean, does not have the level of facilities western hotels do.  Sample all the local cuisine you can - Laos food is delicious and its coffee is wonderful.  Buy handicrafts in Luang Prabang - they are most authentic here.

  Is there anything else you would like to add?

  It's a great trip and one I would highly recommend.  The practical arrangements and thorough and efficient without being inflexible and the local guides insight and knowledge is brilliant.
