Explore the Kerala backwaters on wooden houseboats. Visit an elephant training centre and enjoy a night camping in the jungle. Relax on a tropical beach.
We begin this adventure exploring the narrow streets of Cochin. The city was once an old fishing port and nowadays boats still sail past huge Chinese fishing nets. We then visit a nearby elephant training centre before heading off to beautifully-located Munnar where we trek amongst the hills for breathtaking panoramic views. From India's most elaborately decorated temple complex at Madurai we then visit Periyar National Park, home to an abundance of colourful birdlife and an array of wildlife. We explore this area on foot and spend a night camping in the lush surroundings. For many the highlight is the overnight trip on board a traditional houseboat along the backwaters of Kerala, followed by the chance to relax on one of Kerala's tropical beaches.
