This is an active trip and has specifically been designed with teenagers in mind. A good level of fitness and the ability to swim is required for some of the activities and optional excursions, in particular the Mount Sinai climb and the snorkelling safari, however activities are not compulsory and you can always opt out.
The Sinai trek reaches 2285m and takes around 3-4 hours - you need to be prepared with good walking shoes and suitable clothing. Egypt can get hot, especially in the summer months. You need plenty of suncream and to be careful to stay hydrated. Bottled drinking water is readily available in all hotels and during many excursions. You should also be prepared with warm jumpers as temperatures drop quite significantly in the desert at night.
Ramadan Please note that the Muslim month of Ramadan will take place from roughly 9th July to 7th August 2013 and from 28th June to 27th July 2014 (dates can shift slightly). This is a time when followers of Islam do not eat or drink between sunrise and sunset. This can sometimes affect the opening hours of certain tourist sites. However we will ensure that the itinerary is affected as little as possible if you travel during this period. Food and drink is available to tourists during the day.
