A real adventure holiday for children and an interesting, engaging and rewarding holiday for parents. The trip had the right mix of culture and fun so that everyone was entertained throughout.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Walking down the Siq and seeing the Treasury of Petra before us was just wonderful - better than in the guide books. Or walking out the Bedouin camp in the desert so we could gaze at the stars in total darkness - just magical. Or maybe jumping off the boat into the Red Sea to snorkel and see colourful fish dart around in the blue water. All memorable and inspirational.
What did you think of your group leader?

Raid was a good guide and knew his stuff but the group was great too and we all got on well and had a fun.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Remember to take a beach bag/overnight bag to take into the desert with you as you won't want to take your suitcase there and get everything sandy. It can be cold in Jordan in Feb too so have a few jumpers to hand for warmth.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
    Go! You won't regret it.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Visit to Petra was spectacular and night at Wadi Rum also excellant
What did you think of your group leader?
Doghan (sorry about spelling) was very good. His recommendation of going to Jerash on day one rather than the last day worked very well.  Did a great job of getting us on to the ferry to Egypt.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

A lot of driving to get to Petra but worth it.

    Aqaba is a bit disappointing

Is there anything else you would like to add?

The Aqaba part of the trip did not really work. Suggest work on finding a good beach hotel even though this may cost a bit more. We ended up paying quite a bit to go to a private beach and it was not really worth it.

More time in Petra/Wadi Rum would be better, arriving Aqaba later.

An ideal holiday for a family with a lone teenager used to holidays with his brother.  The trip was packed with lots of exciting and new experiences accompanied by a very knowledgeable but friendly guide who was particularly good with the teens.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Petra was amazing especially the first sight of the Treasury.  Sleeping under the stars in the desert and seeing the sun rise were also unforgettable experiences.
What did you think of your group leader?
We couldn't praise him enough.  He was incredibly organised and arranged a couple of extra picnics for us which were outside the itinerary but added to the enjoyment of the day.  He was full of interesting tales which made each visit come alive.  He was also happy to lead the more adventurous members of the party up rock formations in Wadi Rum to get a better view whereas we noticed other guides left their clients to scramble up on their own.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Do make sure you have good walking shoes in Petra as there is a lot of walking in the two days you are there.  A walking pole is also a great help especially in the climb up to the monastery and if you have dodgy knees.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
This is the first time we have travelled with Exodus and we would definitely go again.  We wanted to do something different and the Lost City of Petra trip certainly met all our expectations.  We are already scanning the Exodus website to see where we can go next year.

A great adventure & chance to experience a different culture.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

First glimpse of the Treasury at Petra from the Siq

Looking up at the starry night sky from our Bedouin camp in the Wadi Rum

Camel ride through the desert to the Bedouin village

The very weird feeling of floating in the Dead Sea

Seeing the Holy Land from the top of Mount Nebo

What did you think of your group leader?
Very good and supportive. Great with the children
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Some of the drives (eg Madaba to Petra and Aqaba to Amman) are pretty long so take plenty of things to keep yourselves occupied! Petra is a huge site so be prepared for quite a lot of walking around (5 / 6 miles plus) - and it can get very hot there with large areas without shade (it's well worth it though!). The further south you go the more conservatively the women dress and one can get some disapproving looks from the locals if, as a woman, you're not well covered eg long sleeves and long trousers as a minimum.
Is there anything else you would like to add?

All of the hotels except for the one in Aqaba (a Days Inn) were fine - clean and relatively comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised by the good quality of the food although it does get a little 'same-y' after a while. Lots of tomatoes, cucumber, bread, houmous, chicken, lamb and rice plus boiled eggs for breakfast and fish in Aqaba.

The trip to the desert and camping overnight in the Bedouin tent were highlights for everyone and quite a magical experience. There is a western style toilet on the camp and there are some mattresses to sleep on (foam of about 5 inches thick) so it's not too uncomfortable for one night.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

An amazing trip which far exceeded our expectations.  A great adventure.  Of the many highlights, Petra and Wadi Rum were unsurpassable.  The Treasury, the Monastery, the High Place of Sacrifice and the numerous amazing tombs of Petra made for an extraordinary experience.  The colours and contours of the rocks in the desert  were of indescribable beauty.   Jordan is a great country and very welcoming.

What did you think of your group leader?

Our group leader was the greatest!  His command of English was exceptional, his local knowledge brilliant and he was just the best in every way (hope you are reading this, Ziad!)

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
I was concerned after booking this trip about the sort of reception we might receive as Europeans in the Middle East.  However, we had a very relaxed and enjoyable time.  The people were very friendly and I would not hesitate to recommend this holiday.   The staff based in the UK were exceptionally helpful answering any queries we had.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
    A great family holiday!
