This was our first ever family guided holiday and it exeeded our expectations; we will definitly look at an other family adventure holiday in the near future. October was the perfect time to go as the temerature was moderate and the sites were not too busy.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

The whole trip was very inspirational, seeing and learning about egypts history both ancient and modern and visiting the Cairo Museum was fascinating...there are too many things to mention!!! The snorkelling was an experience in itself and we were looked after so well, what a wonderful day!

What did you think of your group leader?
Sayed Mansour was our group leader. He made our trip so successful and unforgetable and looked after us exceptionally well, we couldn't have asked for anything more. His knowledge and his enthusiasm is immence and he even managed to keep the children's interests and enthusiasm on a high, getting them involved in the whole experience and giving them things to do; brilliant! We were all sad when we had to say goodbye!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
The optional trips can add up, so make sure you budget for it! Be prepared being hassled by traders, can take time to get used to and make sure you carry small, loose change with you all the time, especially for trips to the toilets!!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
    Everything was absolutly brilliant!!!!!

For the whole family this was a trip of a lifetime. That is is it I am hooked on Exodus, very impressed. The guide who the children all called Fox was exceptional, his knowledge of Egptology and his local knowledge was excellent. The guide made the holiday and the children wept when we left him in Cairo to return home.

The trip was fabulous !! We saw all the sites (without the crowds), there was a good balance between sight-seeing and relaxation by the great pools, we had a fantastic guide in Fouad (or Fox as he wanted to be called) and all our group really got on well with each other. A truely memorable and fantastic holiday.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

There wasn't one highlight of the trip - we had a highlight each day:

    • Seeing the magnificance of Tutankhamum's treaures
    • Taking a peaceful sail on the Nile
    • Visiting the awesome Abul Simbel
    • Taking a camel ride around the villages in Luxor
    • Quad Biking in the Sahara Desert
    • Entering the tombs at the Valley of the Kings
    • Snorkelling with unbelievably coloured fishes in the Red Sea
    • Wondering at the fantastic Pyramids
What did you think of your group leader?

According to my children, Fouad was the best guide in the WORLD !!

All the children adored him as he always made time for them  - even playing with them in the swimming pool.

He was extremely informative and knowledgeable, responding to our requirements and was deifinitely one of the group.

He made our trip special and he made us feel special. For us, he made our trip.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

There are quite a few additional trips that you can arrange once you are in Egypt - make sure you budget for these as they can add up, but they are worthwhile.

There are plenty of places and opportunities to change money once out there, so don't take Egyptian money with you.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

This was our first trip with Exodus, but won't be the last. The organisation of the trip was excellent, as were all the local representatives, drivers etc.

As a single parent, I was a bit concerned about going on a touring holiday with strangers. However, everyone in our group was really welcoming and friendly, and all the children got on so well, it made the experience really positive. We only had 13 in our group which was a good manageable number and meant that we all got to know each other really well and had fun together - we were a great group !!

Although we were concerned due to the recent troubles in Egypt, we need not have been.  The people of Egypt could not have done anymore to make us feel welcome.  We have used Exodus Family previously and thought that we had just got lucky with our guide and the organisation of everything.  Mr Fox our guide showed that this was not a fluke and proved an exeptional guide also.  We also had a wonderful group of familys that added that special ingredient to make the trip truly special.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Flying over the Nile/Valley of the Kings, at Luxor, at dawn, in a hot air balloon.  Perfect weather and perfect flight.
What did you think of your group leader?
Mr Fox (Fouad) was exeptional.  Although he must have conducted similar trips many times, he made it feel like the first time for us.  He was very kind and thoughtful with the childre,n with whom he formed a special bond, and it was very sad when he had to leave.  We wish him well with the forthcoming addition to his own family.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Do not take any Egyptian money with you.  Change money in country, where you will get a far better rate, or use one of plentiful cashpoints available.

Allow plenty of money for the extra trips.

Do not bother with the Giza Sound & Light show.  Very long and very dated.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

All in all a fantastic holiday. Hotels were top notch, our group got on fantastically well with each other and there are plenty of things to see and do and also plenty of time to relax by the pool or do your own thing.

In retrospect, this is the best holiday we have ever had.  It captured all the things we look for: interesting sites, good weather, great food and efficient organisation.   In addition, our travelling companions were wonderful - everything gelled and all the children got on like a house on fire.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
For me, the hot air balloon ride over the valley of the kings.  Whilst it was an early (04.15) start it was definitely worth it.  I had a certain amount of trepidation before ascending, but once in the air the feeling was wonderful.
What did you think of your group leader?
Amazing!  I echo the feelings of my family and the other travellers on the trip. We called him 'Fantastic Mr Fox' and he was all that and more.  He was like a good shepherd who always wanted the best experience for us and just made things happen.  He was never flustered and was always good humored, informed and entertaining. With the kids, he was like the Pied Piper of Hamilyn - they would have followed him anywhere.  I think he intuitively recognised that if the kids are happy then everything else will probably just fall into place - and it did.  If the Egyptians can't find a new president, I'd definitely vote for Fox as my leader!!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Go with an open mind.  There is a lot of poverty in Egypt so be prepared for a certain amount of hassle from street vendors.  However we didn't see any beggars and the vendors will leave you alone with a firm "la shukran" (no thankyou).

Is there anything else you would like to add?

We went to Morocco, on our first family trip out of Europe, in 2010 and so the comparison between this and Egypt was always the obvious one to make.  I think Egypt definitely tops Morocco - the history is more visceral. The Morocco trip was with another tour operator but I think Exodus would be our preferred option in the future.

We feel blessed to have visited Egypt at such a pivotal time in its history.  Despite many friends questioning our decision to go, we undoubtably made the right choice.

Having only been outside Europe for a holiday once before - to Florida - I wasn't quite sure what to expect. However, this trip exceeded all of my expectations in every way. It was definitely the best holiday that I've been on!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
So many to choose from! I have to say that the best Ancient site was the Pyramids at Giza - it's remarkable to think what those ancient builders achieved with only basic tools and without even knowledge of the wheel! However the best experience overall was the boat trip on the Nile at Aswan. The river was so clear and calm, it was incredible that this was the longest river in the world, and it had hardly a current at all! And the views of the sand dunes not stopping until almost at the rivers edge was amazing.
What did you think of your group leader?
Fouad was brilliant! He was very knowledgable and presented this to us in such a way that we absorbed a lot of information but didn't get bored. He was very helpful and friendly, and with the exception of one night (which he apologised for many times afterward!) reccomended good places to eat that were also, on the whole, fairly cheap.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Take a hat and apply suncream LIBERALLY! Even when it doesn't feel hot, the sun is still burning down on you, and sunburn can spoil the enjoyment of your holiday. Also, avoid drinking directly from cans, use a glass or a straw instead. Steel yourself to being asked to buy something every ten feet as you walk, and avoid letting people at the Pyramids and other sites take your camera - they probably won't give it back without you paying them!! Also, quite inportant, many of the days, and especially if there is an optional excursion you are doing, have early starts (5/7 o'clock), so you might need to have a siesta if you have a free afternoon.
Is there anything else you would like to add?

Just a fabulous trip, I definitely reccommend it. If you choose it, you will not be dissapointed!
