What makes this trip responsible?
For every person who travels on this trip, GBP5 is donated to Project Peru. Project Peru is a small, lively, totally voluntary UK-based charity offering food, clothes, shelter, education and fun to the children who live in their refuge in the desert shanty towns of Lima, Peru, where nearly half the population exists on less than a dollar a day. Not only do they provide a positive and safe environment for children, and ongoing help to their marginalised and often dysfunctional families, but also give paid employment, dignity and independence to their staff, all Peruvians. Their community and social initiatives offer practical and desperately needed support to those living in extreme poverty both locally in the neighbouring shanty towns and in the high Andes.
