Visiting both the jungle and mountain regions of Peru, we experience the rich variety of this fascinating country. We start our exploration deep in the Amazon rainforest to discover the sights and sounds of the world's largest jungle, a remarkable area of wilderness and wildlife. Then we travel to the mountains where we take several gentle hikes and explore the beautiful Sacred Valley of the Incas before basing ourselves in Cuzco, ancient Inca capital and now a lively city. We finish the adventure at the Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, stunningly situated in cloud forest. Walking through the well-preserved ruins, it is hard to imagine the Incas abandoned the city almost 500 years ago!

Day 1

Start Lima.

Day 2

Morning free to recover from flight. Afternoon city tour.

Day 3

Fly to Puerto Maldonado; transfer by boat deep into Tambopata Reserve.

Day
4 - 5

Guided jungle exploration by boat and on foot.

Day 6

Boat to Puerto Maldonado; fly to Cuzco. Transfer to Sacred Valley.

Day
7 - 9

Three days to explore Sacred Valley including Pisac Market, Ollantaytambo, local weaver, visit the Rainbow Centre and take a spectacular hike with llamas.

Day 10

To Machu Picchu with option of daywalk on Inca Trail.

Day 11

Visit Machu Picchu; guided tour of site. Return to Cuzco by train.

Day 12

Guided tour of Cuzco and surrounds including Sacsayhuaman Fortress.

Day 13

Free day in Cuzco.

Day 14

Fly to Lima.

Day 15

End Lima.
