Trip Profile
Flights direct with Virgin Atlantic. Transport private air-conditioned minibus and speed boat.
Accommodation
10 nights comfortable hotels.
We stay in a comfortable modern hotel in Havana giving you the chance to acclimatise to the tropics. When we leave Havana the hotels are more simple but all have pools.
At the hotel used in Guama we reach our rooms via raised walkways overlooking the stunning lagoon. Our Cuban adventure ends with 2 nights at a 4-star hotel on the golden beaches of Varadero.
Swimming
All hotels have pools and there are also opportunities to swim in natural pools and the sea.
Food
All breakfasts, 4 lunches and 3 dinners included.
Reality Check
We would highlight the following issues for you to consider: - Virgin Atlantic fly direct to Cuba but it will involve approximately 9 hours of travel.
Bear in mind that if you organise to fly indirectly, this is likely to be around 14 hours.
Cuba can be hot and humid and these conditions can be tiring, especially for children.
The service in restaurants may be slow and the choice of food is often limited.
Some of the accommodation may be more basic than western hotels.
Some fairly long drives (of approximately three hours) are involved, but we have broken these up as much as possible.
Cuba is becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination and unfortunately the number of hotel rooms available is not increasing at the same rate. Hotels occasionally cancel bookings at the last minute and they will then find alternative accommodation for the group. This is more likely in peak season and in extreme cases they may have to place groups in nearby towns. This overbooking is affecting all tour operators to the country and you need to be aware that it may affect your trip.
Normal group size and age
Normally 8 to 18, plus leader and driver(s). Minimum age 5.
Misc
'A busy introduction to Cuba... we swam in a lagoon with enormous fish (my children's first attempt with snorkels in the sea), rode around a nature reserve in a Russian truck (and on foot - with the children not complaining that their feet hurt so it must have been good!) and toured a cigar factory.'

Trivia
Cuban's call their country El Crocodilo, which translates in English to 'The Crocodile', because of its unique shape.

Going on a Family Group trip is a fantastic way to meet new friends and create lasting friendships – for parents and children alike! These holidays combine exploration with sociability and fun, as other families will join you. Minimum ages vary across the trip range, but is usually from 5 years old.
Relaxed Itinerary: A range of itineraries seeking out intriguing and off the-beaten-path destinations in a little extra comfort!
Our Family Group holidays usually cater for children from 5 years old. However, experience tells us that children tend to prefer mixing with their own age groups, especially teenagers. That’s why we’ve designated certain departures on our group trips as particularly recommended for teenagers. Whilst we don't restrict younger kids from joining these holidays, the 'recommended for teenagers' departures means there are likely to be other teenagers to share the experience with.
Wildlife: Trips may be wholly wildlife focused, or contain an element of wildlife viewing within a less specific itinerary.
Culture: Let Exodus show you a different side to many of the world's greatest cultural attractions.
