Frequently Asked Questions
About Your Trip
Do I need any previous experience to take part in the activities?
All of the activities arranged are designed as beginner level and full instruction will be given before you undertake any of them. Previous experience isn't essential (although it always helps!) but a reasonable level of fitness is required.

Can I make my own way to the start point of this winter trip?
It is very difficult to make your own way and we strongly recommend that you make arrangements to meet the Exodus group transfer. If you are unsure, or would like to arrange to be added to this, please contact Exodus for more information.

What are facilities like at the Basecamp accommodation?
It's a superb base in a wilderness location, with excellent facilities. Twin rooms (including a mezzanine accommodate up to 4 people) with ensuite bathrooms, are in two separate buildings. Double rooms are usually available on request. The third building is a cosy restaurant and bar, with a log fire, sauna and outdoor hot-tub (available at specific times every day)!

Family Groups Specific Questions
Are there any age restrictions for our Family Adventure Holidays?
To book on a Family Adventure Holiday at least one member of the family must be under the age of 18. For individual trips a minimum age will also be specified - see the Essential Information tab for the particular trip you are interested in. Please note there may also be a minimum age for certain activities on your chosen holiday.
Is a family adventure right for my family?
If you are the sort of family that enjoys meeting other families and have a passion for discovering new places and trying new activities, then you’ll love going on a Family Adventure. With a Tour Leader to take care of daily arrangements, you can relax and get on with the serious business of spending time with your family and enjoying your holiday. And it’s not just parents who take their children away; we’ve had a number of children travelling with just their grandparents too!
Itineraries are carefully planned to provide a good balance of activity and relaxation time. You can opt to stay with the group all the time or go off and do your own thing every now and then. Your leader will be on hand to help you find your way and organise optional activities. And if the local food isn’t pleasing everyone in the party, it’s usually possible to sneak off to the occasional pizza parlour or similar, to get something a little more familiar.
Our holidays are designed to take you to unusual or remote places, give you exciting experiences and allow you to make the most of your precious holiday time. As with all adventure holidays, there is inevitably an element of risk that you might not find on a resort-based package. However, safety is taken very seriously and our professional leaders will take all necessary precautions to run the trip safely. You will get to see wonderful sights, have the opportunity to interact with local people and create memories that will stay with you forever. Come with us and let us share our passion for travel with you!
Winter Activities Specific Questions
For more information on the different types of winter trips that we do, please have a look at our Winter Activies programme online.
Our leaders will do their utmost to ensure the personal safety and security of our clients, but all winter activities do bring a risk of physical injury. Beginners to certain activities such as cross-country skiing or ski-touring will inevitably fall over many times; usually the falls are minor and are regarded as part of the fun, but occasionally more serious injuries (such as broken bones) occur. On all mountain winter holidays we have to take extra care for our clients’ safety. Where there is a risk of avalanche, falling on slopes or dangers due to the cold, our guides are extra cautious. If the guide considers situations to be above a reasonable level of risk, activities may have to be cancelled. However, please note that we can never completely eliminate all risks.
