Sterling cash is best, and just change it locally when you arrive. You can arrange some local currency in advance but there is really no need and no advantage in doing so. ATMs are widely available as well, in case you need to top up towards the end of the trip!

What gear do we need for the Slovakia activities?
Comfortable pair of shoes for the cycle days
Boots with ankle support are recommended for the canyon walk although good trainers may suffice.
Small day-pack for camera, guide book etc
Water bottle to use when walking and sightseeing
Sun cream, hat and sun glasses
Towel and swimming things
Some waterproofs and warm clothes. Useful for inclement weather and the ice cave.
Clothes and shoes you don't mind getting wet
Spare trainers may be useful as they might not dry fully overnight
How strenuous is the Slovakia activity holiday?
This is an active holiday, with time spent on water, mountain bike and on foot. Children should be able to swim and be happy riding a bike. It can also be hot during the summer months in Slovakia, possibly in the 30s however rain is possible at any time of year.

Family Groups Specific Questions
Is a family adventure right for my family?
If you are the sort of family that enjoys meeting other families and have a passion for discovering new places and trying new activities, then you’ll love going on a Family Adventure. With a Tour Leader to take care of daily arrangements, you can relax and get on with the serious business of spending time with your family and enjoying your holiday. And it’s not just parents who take their children away; we’ve had a number of children travelling with just their grandparents too!
Itineraries are carefully planned to provide a good balance of activity and relaxation time. You can opt to stay with the group all the time or go off and do your own thing every now and then. Your leader will be on hand to help you find your way and organise optional activities. And if the local food isn’t pleasing everyone in the party, it’s usually possible to sneak off to the occasional pizza parlour or similar, to get something a little more familiar.
Our holidays are designed to take you to unusual or remote places, give you exciting experiences and allow you to make the most of your precious holiday time. As with all adventure holidays, there is inevitably an element of risk that you might not find on a resort-based package. However, safety is taken very seriously and our professional leaders will take all necessary precautions to run the trip safely. You will get to see wonderful sights, have the opportunity to interact with local people and create memories that will stay with you forever. Come with us and let us share our passion for travel with you!
Are there any age restrictions for our Family Adventure Holidays?
To book on a Family Adventure Holiday at least one member of the family must be under the age of 18. For individual trips a minimum age will also be specified - see the Essential Information tab for the particular trip you are interested in. Please note there may also be a minimum age for certain activities on your chosen holiday.
Winter Activities Specific Questions
For more information on the different types of winter trips that we do, please have a look at our Winter Activies programme online.
Our leaders will do their utmost to ensure the personal safety and security of our clients, but all winter activities do bring a risk of physical injury. Beginners to certain activities such as cross-country skiing or ski-touring will inevitably fall over many times; usually the falls are minor and are regarded as part of the fun, but occasionally more serious injuries (such as broken bones) occur. On all mountain winter holidays we have to take extra care for our clients’ safety. Where there is a risk of avalanche, falling on slopes or dangers due to the cold, our guides are extra cautious. If the guide considers situations to be above a reasonable level of risk, activities may have to be cancelled. However, please note that we can never completely eliminate all risks.
