Itinerary
Day 1
Start at Bomerano hotel.
Day 2
After a short drive to Amalfi, we take the boat along the coast to Positano, a near vertical town of colourful buildings reached by a network of ancient paths and tracks. We will explore this picturesque town in the morning, strolling among its winding streets and there is time for the children to enjoy a swim in the sea or visit the unique boutiques, before we return in the late afternoon to Bomerano by boat and minibus.
Day 3
Today we visit the famous volcano that looms over the million inhabitants of Naples, Mt Vesuvius. A local guide will take you on a short walk along the rim of the crater and he will explain you the fascinating history of Vesuvius and its volcanic activity. We then drive on to Pompeii, which was buried in 79AD by a giant mudslide, triggered by the eruption of Mt Vesuvius. The perfectly presented remains give us an amazing insight into the life of a Roman city.
Day 4
We leave our hotel for a short walk to the nearby Parco Corona, where you can admire breathtaking coastline views from its Belvedere. From here we continue on to a local cheese factory, where you will have the opportunity to sample delicious freshly made mozzarella, prepared in front of you following a centuries-old recipe. We then depart for a visit to the vibrant Amalfi, which was popular with the British upper classes in Edwardian times. The large Duomo dominates the town with its bright coloured tiles so typical of the region. We have a few hours to explore this wonderful town. We then make our way back to the hotel, where we will have a fun evening learning how to make the original Neapolitan pizza.
Day 5
Relax by one of the local beaches (return transfer included). Alternatively you could enjoy a boat ride along the coast, or travel by bus to visit the vast buried city of Herculaneum (optional). Another option is to visit Ravello, a charming and peaceful town perched high on the cliffs above Amalfi, famous for its stunning panoramic gardens and its impressive Cathedral.
Day 6
It's time for a fun walk along a short section of one of the world's finest day walks. Leaving from our front door step it's a short stroll through the quiet village of Bomerano before we join the 'Path of the Gods'. The route follows the contours of the land for the majority of the day with amazing views of the Amalfi Coastline far below. In season the meadows are carpeted with flowers and the coastal waters teem with cruisers and pleasure boats. The Amalfi Coast is also renowned for its colourful ceramics and this afternoon we visit a local artisan's 'bottega', where we have the opportunity to paint our pottery souvenir! In the evening we may have the chance to admire Amalfi lit up at night.
Day 7
After a scenic ride down to Amalfi, we will board the boat to Capri. The journey along the Amalfi Coast is spectacular with small coves and bays of clear azure water overlooked by towering cliffs. The time spent on Capri is unguided and on arrival you are free to explore the island on foot, by boat or the chairlift, from which you will be able to see the entire island. A beautiful walk will take you up to Capri town and along a network of small pedestrian streets to visit the remains of Villa Jovis, the former home of the fearsome Roman emperor Tiberius. A walk around the spectacular coastline is recommended and allows you to see a natural rock arch and the famous Faraglioni, rock stacks which stick vertically out of the sea. You may also go for a boat tour around the island's grottos, including the famous Blue Grotto, and then under the natural arch, where you will be able to take a swim in the beautiful blue waters.
Day 8
End at Bomerano hotel.
