The most amazing family holiday we have ever had, thank you!! For families and children, the mix of sight seeing, child friendly involvement and activites, mostly made possible by the fantastic local guide and hotelier, Nicola ,of Hotel du Torri, made every moment special and something to remember. To see the delight on a child's face, both climbing Vesuvius, but also receiving their personally inscribed "Pizza making' certificate, having been carefully guided through the process, was worth every penny, and more!! One could not experience the essence of the Italian family, food or architecture as a lone tourist- it was the local people and hotel that made the trip worthwhile!!
- What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Every day was better than the one before, but 'The Walk of the Gods', and the bespoke family Italian 'picnic', or rather banquet, (with views unsurpassed, looking towards Positano,) provided for us, during the walk, was something we will never forget, and hold a special place for us as a family.
An equal memory will be seeing Nicola's pizza demonstration, at Hotel du Torri, followed by the children making their own pizzas, and receiving their certificates!!
- What did you think of your group leader?
Suzy's unbelievable enthusiasm and motivation for all things pizza, piazza, and children, made the trip fun and exciting, but most of all, kept the children interested and entertained, without them realizing it!!
Her passion for the local place and people, and her genuine knowledge and interest in their well being , is to be highly commended.
- Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Take good walking/hiking shoes, and during the autumn months, take clothes for layering and mostly a good lightweight waterproof, for the children as well.
Always have a bottle of water with you, and take a light backpack for day trips, ( and to take ceramics home as hand luggage!!).
- Is there anything else you would like to add?
I cannot speak highly enough of Nicola and his family and team at the Hotel du Torri in Bomerano!!
It was the genuine help, friendship and efficiency of all at the hotel that made the trip what it was! To see the Italian cuisine being prepared for us in front of our eyes, by Giovanni, was yet another highlight, and it all looked so simple. They were genuinely keen to please, and the activities arranged, esp the Mozzarella factory, and painting the ceramics for the children, showed an excellent underlying understanding of children and what motivates them!!
I would highly recommend a visit to Ravello on the free day, and definitely a visit to Villa Cimbrone, mostly to stand on 'the Terrace of Infinity", something not to be missed!!
For children, this also provides a quiet, calm day to recharge and relax over a lunch at villa Maria, listening to classical music, prevalent in Ravello.
