The countryside of Tuscany stretches from the crisp, clear air of the Apennines to one of the most beautiful coastlines of Italy. Its cities are among the greatest treasure houses of Europe but parts of Tuscany are still quite remote, such as the Garfagnana, a beautiful rural enclave flanked by the Apennines and Alpi Apuane (the Marble Mountains). The region is quite simply stunning, with deer and wild boar foraging in the beech and oak woods whilst seasonal flowers carpet the upland meadows. We base ourselves at La Pozza, a renovated farmhouse with sweeping views, a homely feel and, importantly, a superb swimming pool.

Itinerary

Day 1	Fly to Pisa and transfer to La Pozza, our base for the week.
Day 2	Short drive to the beautiful town of Barga to explore music and art exhibitions; relaxing afternoon at La Pozza pool.
Day 3	Explore the underground world of stalactites and stalagmites in the Grotta del Vento; optional afternoon visit to local farm.
Day 4	Sightseeing in Pisa and optional cycle ride around the walled city of Lucca.
Day 5	Beautiful morning walk amongst ruined shepherds' huts; optional afternoon canoe trip along Lago Pontecosi.
Day 6	Free day to relax by the pool, or try some canyoning or caving (all optional).
Day 7	Morning wildlife walk in Parco dell'Orecchiella searching for deer, marmots and eagles; optional afternoon at high ropes adventure park.
Day 8	Fly to London.
