Explore the Lost City of Machu Picchu with an optional day walk on the Inca Trail. Discover the treasures of the Amazon from our comfortable lodge. Walk with llamas above the beautiful Sacred Valley.

The jungles and mountains of Peru were home to many civilizations whose ancient cities and sites are still being discovered. Our three-part itinerary starts with an expedition deep in the jungles of the Amazon rainforest, a remarkable area of wilderness and wildlife. From there we head to the popular city of Cuzco and the varied attractions of the Sacred Valley, where we take several gentle hikes. Finally we visit Machu Picchu, the Inca city stunningly situated between the Peruvian Andes and the Amazon. Only rediscovered in 1911, it gives a fascinating insight into the remarkable Inca people.

INCAS & THE AMAZON (INDEPENDENT FAMILY HOLIDAY)

Day 1	Start Lima.
Day 2	Morning free to recover from flight. Afternoon city tour.
Day 3	Fly to Puerto Maldonado; transfer by boat deep into Tambopata Reserve.
Day 4 - 5	Guided jungle exploration by boat and on foot.
Day 6	Boat to Puerto Maldonado; fly to Cuzco. Transfer to Sacred Valley.
Day 7 - 9	Three days to explore Sacred Valley including Pisac Market, Ollantaytambo, local weaver, visit to the Rainbow Centre and a spectacular hike with llamas.
Day 10	To Machu Picchu with option for day walk on Inca Trail (to be booked and paid for before departure).
Day 11	Visit Machu Picchu; guided tour of site. Return to Cuzco by train.
Day 12	Guided tour of Cuzco and surrounds including Sacsayhauman fortress.
Day 13	Free day in Cuzco.
Day 14	Fly to Lima.
Day 15	End Lima.
