Self Guided Moderate New Trip Cycling Culture
  • Visit the famous sites of Pisa and Florence
  • Fantastic history and culture to explore
  • Relaxed cycling through beautiful countryside and towns
Pisa

This ride will take you from Pisa's Leaning Tower to Florence, across the lands of Leonardo, Puccini, Pinocchio and several other artists, composers, inventors and painters who were inspired by the beauty of the Tuscan landscape.

The itinerary follows a relatively flat route and is designed to take in the best of what this region has to offer, mixing cycling with some fascinating history and culture. There are so many highlights on this trip, both scenic and cultural.

From Lucca with its Renaissance era city walls, the beautiful Piazza Anfiteatro and the Basilica di San Frediano; the thermal spas at Montecatini, to the museums, palaces and churches of Florence which house some of the greatest artistic treasures in the world.

This is a ride full of interest and ideally suited to self-guided cycling; you can be your own leader stopping as you please to take in the sites that most interest you.

Whether it is the open countryside, the literary or musical legacy or the artistic dominance of this region that interests you, you can soak it all up as you please.

What makes this trip responsible?

As a self-guided trip you will be pedalling under your own steam and at your own pace. You will not be part of a group so the impact of your visit on the landscape and communities you pass will be absolutely minimal. Our local operator works with local suppliers and hoteliers to ensure that we support the communities we visit, maximising the benefit to them and also our enjoyment of the region. We will stay in characterful, locally run hotels and the route notes will often give you hints and tips of local restaurants you can try, giving you a taste of the local cuisine while helping to support these establishments. Moreover, we encourage you to journey by train to minimise your carbon footprint.
