Itinerary
Day 1
Start Beaune
Day 2
A day to relax and enjoy Beaune's many attractions or take an optional cycle ride. It is worth visiting the Hospice de Beaune museum, one of the finest examples of 15th century French architecture.
Day 3
Today's ride is through the heart of wine country including some of the most prestigious French vineyards. There are opportunities for tasting in the Chateaux of Pommard and Meursault. You will then ride on past the 13th century chateau at La Rocheport and on to the lovely old town of Nolay.
Day 4
Leave the vineyards behind and cycle through the forested uplands to the hilltop village of Chateauneuf en Auxois, with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside.
Day 5
A day to relax or take an optional cycle ride. Chateauneuf is only two kilometres from the Burgundy canal. Our cycling loop will take us to some of the feeding lakes of the canal and some pretty and remote villages. If you decide to give the bike a break, you can explore the tiny streets and chateau in the mediaeval village.
Day 6
The majority of the day follows the Burgundy canal past Velars-sur-Ouche and then on to Dijon. Try and get an early start so you can spend some time exploring Dijon in the afternoon.
Day 7
Once you are ready, depart mediaeval Dijon and pedal via Nuits St Georges, the capital of the Cotes de Nuits vineyards, to Beaune. This fascinating old town is a great place to explore and eat with plenty of shops and restaurants.
Day 8
End Beaune.
