Reality Check
The walking would appeal to serious, fit walkers who like a challange and dramatic scenery.
This holiday has varied walking along the valley bottoms and in the high mountains up to 2700m (8800ft). Ascents of up to 1000m (3300ft) every walking day.
The paths are well-made and well used, with excellent signposting. Day 4 includes a narrow path for a short distance when leaving the valley floor, with cables fixed to the rock to assist. If you are unhappy with this you can walk along the valley and take the train from Lauterbrunnen up to Wengen (pay locally). A good fitness level is required.
Walking boots are essential, and remember that the weather can change quickly in the mountains so wet-weather gear an a compass are also required.
Normal group size and age
Self-guided; luggage transfer is subject to at least 2 people travelling, route notes and maps are provided. Minimum age 12.
Misc
A compulsory sole traveller supplement (payable in advance) may apply (to cover both the accommodation and station arrival/departure transfers) if there is only one person booked on a departure in total.

Self-Guided trips are only available to cycling enthusiasts in Europe. These holidays are the perfect choice for those who like to travel independently and at your own pace, yet still benefit from our quality research, back-up and support. We'll arrange your accommodation, provide you with detailed maps and route notes, and transport your bags from one hotel to the next.
In order to provide a more accurate grading system, where a trip falls between two grades we use an intermediate or split grade, for example Moderate/Challenging. Occasionally, there are optional activities available en route, in this case the optional grade is indicated in brackets, for example Grade Challenging (climb Tough+). Clearly, conditions may differ from region-to-region or month-to-month and as such the information given on these pages is designed to act as a guide only. In all cases you should refer to the respective holiday's Trip Notes for further details.
Exodus is always looking to improve our current itineraries and to offer something different. With many new trips this year, there is something unique and different to try every year.
