Steeped in myth, Gozo is thought to be the legendary Calypso's isle of Homer's Odyssey - a peaceful, mystical backwater. Baroque churches and old stone farmhouses dot the countryside.

Gozo's rugged landscape and spectacular coastline await exploration, and this is best done on foot. Our trip is based in the top hotel on the island, and is the perfect base for each day's walk.

The itinerary suggests a varied walk for each day, but how much you do is entirely up to you, and nowhere is very far from the hotel.

Day 1

Start Gozo.

Day 2

Walk from Mgarr port through the coast to the narrow creek of Mgarr ix-Xini .

Day 3

Explore the north western corner of the island and the striking cliff on the north coast.

Day 4

Walk to Xlendi bay and enjoy breathtaking views of Comino and Malta.

Day 5

Free day to explore the many attraction the island - we suggest a bus trip to the capital Victoria, or a visit Ramla beach, said to be the best on the island.

Day 6

Head to the west coast, a place which feels like the edge of the world, and visit the dramatic Azure Window, a natural rock arch.

Day 7

Start at Qala, easy stroll to Dahlet Quorrot harbour,then San Blas Bay with its hidden beach, and finally head to Nadur.

Day 8

End Gozo.
