Day 1

Start Volterra.

Day 2

Walk to the pretty honey-coloured hilltop village of Mazzolla; in the afternoon follow forest trails to our boutique hotel in Casole d'Elsa.

Day 3

Free day at Casole d'Elsa with plenty of optional walks or just stay by the pool.

Day 4

A gentle walk through the valley floor to the small hamlet of Quartaia, perfect for a lunchstop. Afternoon; follow pilgrms path alongside the Elsa River to stunning 4-star hotel, a beautifully converted 12C Benedictine Abbey.

Day 5

Free day Colle di Val d'Elsa; option to visit Siena or Florence, or enjoy the lovely hotel and mediaeval town.

Day 6

Follow in pilgrims' footsteps through more beautiful country and tiny villages to San Donato; optional wine tasting in Montauto.

Day 7

Free day at San Donato: visit San Gimignano's famous towers or there's another chance to see Siena. Visit San Gimignano's mystical towers

Day 8

Follow a woodland trail and climb to views of Monte Voltraio; descend to Sensano and Ulignano and finally follow a mule track back to Volterra. Follow the woodland trail to Volterra

Day 9

End Volterra.
