Well organised trip that was delivered by an excellent local team. Weather was good to us - not too hot most days and the only rain was whilst we were in the coach. Couple of rather dull flat days into a head wind but otherwise the route was varied - passing though small towns and countryside. Great way of seeing a lot of different aspects of Cuba in a short time.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Cycling into the mountains, Trinidad, & watching the local transport system. Friendly locals - one of which called me Lance Armstrong as I went past!
What did you think of your group leader?
Miguel, Alexi and Jose Luis were a great team and worked hard to ensure the trip went smoothly.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

The snorkling from Trinidad is good - but if you are not into snorkling consider having the day in Trinidad. The boat trip is 2 hours each way for 2 hours on the island.

Bring padded shorts and good cycling gloves.

Don't expect to be able to buy much - shops as we know them don't really exist!

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Can't think of a better way of seeing a lot of Cuba in a short time. Cuba is changing - go sooner than later.

Our group was great, we all got on and had a lot of fun! The  rides were a good mix of challenging and easy, some of them were boring mainly on the flat with head winds but the mountains section was great. The Cuban people were great, very friendly and welcoming.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The ride through the mountains was fantastic, such a sense of acheivment over such a gruelling course.  The hotel was great, the best of the trip.  The waterfall was the best feature and it was just a fantastic day.
What did you think of your group leader?

Liber was great, he was very knowledgable and gave us lots of information on the historyof Cuba not only in the places we visited but as much of Cuba as he could.

He was very friendly and aproachable and always happy to chat with us and take us places that may be of interest.

It was not just the tour leader that made it the support drivers and mechanic all made the trip unforgettable.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Train up for a few weeks, get used to being in the sadle for at least a couple of hours.

Take baby wipes, the facilities are of mixed quiality lets say.

Padded shorts are a must and a gel saddle was useful for lots of people.

The food is the same everywhere but quite nice,

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Mohitos are fantastic...  Drink them everywhere and enjoy!

The last meal we had was in a speciality fish restaurant, did not have a vegetarian option and more frighteningly had no fish. Only in Cuba could this happen. Expect things just to be unavailable.

A really fantastic two weeks in Cuba.  The cycling was brilliant too - after a couple of days to get more adjusted to the heat!  Towards the end of the trip, we were really motoring - and enjoying some woderful scenery.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Ceinfuegos, Trinidad and Santiago were wonderful - as were the rides through the interior and up into the mountains.  In fact, apart from the truly awful Hotel Pernik (where many of us had food poisoning!), can't think of anyting bad to say about the trip.
What did you think of your group leader?
Jose was absolutely brilliant - full of fun and information and so enthusiastic about his country and its history and culture.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
We wish we had put in a bit more practice and training days beforehand, as the first day or two we found quite hard cycling, especially in the heat (32 Celsius and above!).  Woul advise going in January/February, wehn it may be slightly cooler, rather than March.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
The Cuba trip has really got us up for it - and now we want to cycle Vietnam next!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

The most memorable moment was cycling during a warm rain storm, trying to dodge the squillions of migrating crabs on our way to Trinidad.  It was just great.
Trindad was so pretty.  Arriving at the hotel in the mountains took my breath away.  Santiago was such fun.  So many great moments to share but I wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone who decides to go.

What did you think of your group leader?
Freddie was just a star.  He made the holiday so brilliant.  organised everything, even restaurants and entertainment in the evenings.  He was great.  Hose-Louis, Alexis and Titi were also all brilliant such great company and support.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Be prepared for cycling in the heat if travelling in March/April but you do get used to it after a day or two
Take toilet roll or tissues with you as it's scarce in some places
Go to Casa de la trova in Santiago if you like dancing
Get your guide to arrange (in advance) Salsa tuition in Trinidad.  You will enjoy the clubs so much more

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Holguin could be skipped to be honest and the last few rides (now you're feeling really fit) could have been a bit longer but other than that it was totally brilliant.  The group was great though which helped make it so special.  I met some really lovely, hilarious people and we all agreed that apart from the odd dodgy hotel (which couldn't really be helped because of location) you coudn't fault exodus at all.  Totally brill and so worth it.  I'm thinking about Vietnam now.

The holiday was a success because of both the people in the group, and  the Cuban people themselves. Very relaxed and approachable, with their infectious music and dancing, the trip became much more than a cycle tour. The cycling was relatively easy except for one day, and well serviced by the team. Cycling, swimming, dancing - not as exhausting as it sounds, but certainly memorable.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
I'm sure that if Shangri-la was not a mythical place then its location would be the Villa el Salton in the Sierra Maestra. Swimming in a clear freshwater pool beneath a beautiful waterfall has to be the stuff of dreams or Hollywood backdrops! I don't think anyone would have objected to a longer stay!
What did you think of your group leader?
Jose was incredible. Not once did he lose his cool, although I think he would have been justified in doing so a couple of times.  He even gave us Salsa lessons - at no extra charge! A worthy, enthusiastic, confident and knowledgeable leader.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Take your own bike if you can! Be prepared for long bus transfers, a necessary feature when covering the whole island.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Most of the group opted out of the catamaran trip. We went down to the harbour, but the operators were very inefficient and the catamaran seemed overcrowded. Those that did go on the trip seemed less than impressed.

Thoroughly enjoyable - a really memorable experience. We developed a great affection for Cuba and the Cuban people. A unique country.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
There were many. The day into the Sierra Maestre mountains and the last two days' cycling were all good. The street music in Trinidad was magic.
What did you think of your group leader?
Liber was outstanding. Excellent on the history; great sense of humour; good organisation; very helpful; popular all round.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
My only observation is that Cuba faces problems over the very high rewards, relatively speaking, available to people working in the tourist industry by comparison with what just about anybody else can aspire to earn in Cuba. To that extent the Exodus suggestions as to what were the levels of tips which we should give, seemed very high. Liber was excellent but a recommended tip of c. 30 CUCs from each of 16 people produces a sum which is about 15-20 times a doctor's monthly salary. (We did, in effect, contribute 50 CUCs per person for three people, the majority, appropriately, going to the overall leader). I have no problem with this sum, as such, but have concerns that tourism is introducing its own inequalities and, possibly tensions,  to Cuban society.

Excellent trip, very well organised, our guides really looked after us well and tried to make sure we all enjoyed the trip.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Loved Trinidad, old Spanish colonial city with great music vibe wherever you go.  wherever you go in the whole country there are musicians playing.

The mix of Caribbean island, Spanish colnialism, old American vehicules and the communism and Castro and Che is fascinating and the people are warm ad friendly

What did you think of your group leader?
Excellent. all the guides workes well as a team and went out of thier way to make sure we had a good time.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Take snacks, need to refuel often and snacks are hard to come by in Cuba, although the guides fed us v well at each stop, some high energy snacks would have been good.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Couple of the places, eg Santiago and Trinidad would have preferred to stay in town rather than on the outskirts so we could have been freer to wander around at our leisure.
