  • Race from the Dead Sea to the Red Sea
  • Visit Petra, the magnificent rose-red city
  • Camp under the stars in the Wadi Rum
Monastry, Petra

This is a special departure centered around the annual Dead2Red race in Jordan. Although the conception of the Amman Road Runners, the 242km race is now a popular event for cyclists with amateurs and athletes of all ages and abilities competing. It can be raced as an individual or as a relay in a team of 3 or 5, but we can team you up locally if you are booking on your own. In Jordan it has grown in popularity, but it is relatively unknown internationally. Therefore, we are excited to be able to offer the bike race as part of a wider cycling experience of this fascinating country.

The race will start in the early hours from the Wadi Moujeb Bridge on the shores of the Dead Sea, -415m below sea level. It will then make its way through Wadi Araba, rising to 120m before descending again towards Aqaba at sea level. The breathtaking desert scenery will form the backdrop to the ride, where the red rock and desert sand will stretch out to each side of you as you take on the challenge.

Before the event, we will have a couple of days of warm up riding around Madaba, giving us an opportunity to acclimatise before the race and explore the landscape and historical sites in the area. The day after the race we will have the opportunity to spend a night in a traditional Bedouin camp in the Wadi Rum beneath a star-filled sky and surrounded by the desert scenery that was once the headquarters of Lawrence of Arabia, before making our way to Petra. We will have a whole day to explore the Rose-red city, with its famous carvings and network of caves.

With so many highlights this trip will challenge and astound you.

What makes this trip responsible?

Our small group sizes ensure that we limit our impact whilst cycling throughout Jordan. Pedalling under our own steam we help the economy of the small villages and communities that we pass through, using their smaller restaurants, traders and shops.
