An almost tourist-free land. A fantastic ride through flat farmlands and up into the Djerdop Gorge for fabulous views over the Danube.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The people were so welcoming and friendly, I couldn't have asked for better hosts at the local guesthouse. The food was fabulous, all the fresh fish you could ask for locally caught from the Danube. A highlight for me was the self-sufficient farm where we had an amazing lunch followed by wallowing under a walnut tree on hay bales soaking up the late afternoon rays. Not just your average cycling holiday, Serbia has such a rich and fascinating history.
What did you think of your group leader?
The leader and driver were unrivalled in their knowledge of Serbian history.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Take sun tan cream, it can get very hot! But don't worry the driver is always on hand with plenty of water supplies!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I highly recommend this trip for all types of cyclists. The flat roads means that even Sunday cyclists (like me!) can cope with the days riding.

Guide, Daniella (?) was excellent, organisation was good. 3rd day was wasted in my opinion, first 2 days cycling were through farmland and extremely flat and not very interesting. last 3 days were excellent along the Danube. The holiday title is misleading as we only really went along the Danube for the final 3 days.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Last 3 days along the Danube
What did you think of your group leader?
Excellent, good humour, well organised etc
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Read the holiday details carefully, it is not really a week cycling along the Danube!!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
The flight back meant getting up at 0330, it would have been much better to get the later flight which was possible. Also, the trip out was an early pm flight, the combination of the two meant that the holiday was actually a day shorter.

Being a Serbian/American it was an interesting trip.  At times I felt I was back in my childhood surounded by all the old Serbs.  Only thing missing was the old kolo music.  It was like time traveling on a bicycle.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Riding along the Danube and coming face to face with history 400 even 1000 years old.  Roman ruins, crusader castles and remenamts of the Turkish invasion.  Awesome.
What did you think of your group leader?
GREAT  Knew the sites, knew the history and was a great cyclist.  Kept the group together, the hardest part of a bicycle trip.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Vegetarians should find a tour with other vegetarians.  They are a pain in the ass.
Is there anything else you would like to add?

Zoran our driver was fantasic.  I've been on lots of bike tours and he was one of the best.  You can't beat having a cyclist for a driver and support staff.

Plan on going back next year.  Want to ride and see parts of the Tour de Serbia and then maybe Split and Dubrovnic.
